I’m thinking today of the newcomers here who are reading our blogs and watching our interactions, but have yet to introduce themselves, or have yet to get started, or to fully commit to a date. Or to this process.

This blog is for anyone out there who is wondering where to start. How to start.

“Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins.    (Jim Rohn)

Learning about cigarettes, learning about nicotine, learning about addiction, learning about quit strategies, learning about the better self you could be…these should all become familiar to you   before you put out that last cigarette. And, where are you supposed to discover all this information? Well, right here within the EX program! And, by paying attention to the “extracurricular resources” that are often recommended within the blogs. With so much accessible knowledge at your fingertips, it’s easy to start learning! And, you’ve got an entire weekend ahead of you to get crackin’.

“Give me six hours to chop down a tree, and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”   (Abraham Lincoln)

See, Honest Abe not only knew that preparation for a task was key, but that preparation doesn’t just…“happen“. In this example, 4 hours of preparation means that the arduous task at hand will only take 2 hours. Imagine how back-breaking (and pointless?) it would be to hammer away at an oak tree with a dull axe? So, don’t make things hard on yourself; slow down and read and learn and practice and prepare! EX suggests 21 days in which to do all this, so love yourself enough to explore all (or a greater part) of that training period, okay?

“One cannot be prepared for something while secretly believing it will not happen.”   (Nelson Mandela)

Finally, I have to mention this; it‘s tough, but true: Not even an entire month of reading and studying and sharing and connecting will prepare you to quit   if you do not believe that quitting   is possible, and that it’s possible for   you. Maybe, right now, in the very early stages, it’s scary to imagine yourself snubbing out   The Last Cigarette of Your Life. So, maybe you’re wondering   how you’ll   ever reach   your point of believing in the possible? Well, it’s the preparation that gets you there! All the preparation I’ve been talking about is what brings you to that open door! Truly! So, listen, if you don’t put in the advanced groundwork, and if you don’t believe that smarter planning   will change how you feel about your power to quit, then how in the world could you even begin to understand that your quit is possible?

I’m asking you to secretly believe that quitting will happen for you, and then I'm asking you to work to prove yourself right.
