I am a newby and from Texas. I am currently just plain worried about being an EX and not quitting. My health is that I really need to quit. I get out of breath just walking my chihuahua and that is just rediculous to me. So I really need help and encouragement. I was on a pack a day and have cut it to half that. End of March had a heart attack and stint placement. I have another artery that is 70-80% that is being treated by meds. Besides that troubles with work. So anxiety and depression are trying to take hold due to no work, quitting spoking, bill, blah blah blah. I started doing a little weight lifting, besides walking the dog. I have quit smoking while walking him, which is a good thing. Trying to do a bit on cardioglider, but just don't want to do too much just yet due to meds and blockage. Please help. I just signed up tonight and need guidance in what I need to do. I did notice there is an app for IPhone, Is there one for Android Phone? Or can I use the IPhone app. I believe they are a bit different.
thanks and hope to hear from you.

Hi Texas and welcome to Ex! You've had a heart attack and luckily lived thru it, SO you should have quit after you had the heart attack. Other that that, you need to quit ASAP in order to stay alive...

The most important thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the easier it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

You can do it and you will be rewarded pretty quick with the ability to breathe better. You will not be so tired anymore and if your body just generally aches you will notice how much better it feels in the first couple days. I used to ache even during the night and would take advil for it. Once i quit i did not need to take advil anymore on a regular basis. You sound mentally ready to quit so do the reading Nancy suggested because it will help you understand the addiction and once you understand it you can conquer it better. Stay on this site to get help and you will get it. I have 132 days smokefree after smoking for 40 years.  You can do it. Just be committed to it

I'm glad that Tommy sent you to blogs.  You are already seeing the results cuz its where we all hang out.  I suggest that you post some details on your page as it helps folks relate to you.  I was 62 and diagnosed with clocked carotid and came here for help.  More than two years later I'm still here and smoke free and you can do the same.

So glad to hear your mother is doing better!.  What a terrible fall.  You are so blessed to have your mother.  Cherish her!  Prayers are going up up up for her.
