Pity Party Day 11

Been doing pretty good except for angry at hubby because he wanted to quit smoking for "us" yet he is still smoking with the patch. I'm having a big time pity party and feeling sorry for myself. I had lost quite a bit of weight and now I'm eating everything in sight and miserable. If I can just make it through today, maybe tomorrow will be easier.

Each day does get easier. I had the thing with wanting to eat all the time too. We all do. I had to keep all the sweet and high fat stuff out of the house at first. I ate mini carrots, and a lot of them too. Animal crackers were good for that sweet tooth and very dark chocolate, small pieces help to knock out a craving just like that!
Your doing great Kathy. Your husband will have to find his own time and way to quit, so don't let that get you down. I too used the patch. It worked great for me, but I did wear two at one time the first few day's. I don't know about the smoking and wearing the patch at the same time. I doubt that makes it easier to quit in the long run. Good luck to ya.

Hey Kathy, thanks for stopping by my page and - it sounds we're pretty much in the same boat. Yep, it was my husband's agenda to quit smoking and I just sort of "played along". Well, guess who's really quit and who's become a closet smoker? I am on day 11, my husband's basically on day zero.

I know the "hunger" pangs, and I've managed to beat them because I truly am a veggie lover, don't know whether this works for everyone. But, I love to make myself little platters with sliced cucumbers, baby carrots, quartered tomatoes and stuffed olives, season with sea salt, fresh ground pepper and dried herbs like thyme, oregano, dill weed etc. Eat it with whole kernel rye bread or whole grain crackers to boost, keep some cheese cubes in the fridge. I eat as much of this as I want or need, often in an angry fashion, but then I'll be full for the next few hours and so far I haven't gained any weight. I think depriving yourself and then pigging out is much worse (throw a few chocolates in there as well - they won't kill you, but cigarettes will!).

Other than that - hang on in there, you're only 2 1/2 days away from celebrating two weeks. Celebrate with me, will you???

Stay strong. My husband is starting to feel the pressure to quit, and I have not pushed him. He has to be ready. When he quits and then starts making a bunch of excuses so he can start back, well then it's on!
Welcome, look forward to getting to know you.

Also, I have found that Triscuit crackers with low fat cheese and grapes can make a pretty satisfying lunch or snack. The first couple of days I polished off a bag or two of mini choc chip cookies, but got control of myself after that.

omg Chris, that post of yours made me *hungry* lol. That sounded sooooooo good. I miss good fresh veggies here, since I can't grow much in the middle of winter, and the store stuff is pretty icky.

And Kathy, I've gotta say you are doing great. I'm going through raving addict brain at the moment, and heading off to read for a while to shut the bugger up! If I felt like I had reason to be mad at my hubby, I'm sure my addict brain would use that one too. You stay strong; you can only control what *you* do, how *you* act.

Maybe get mad enough to show 'em, eh? Oh, and I find water, juice, and walking are great for that munchie craving.
