Over 30 days and Over being Sick

Well kids it has been over 30 days but I can't lie I have never spent more days sick ever. Between the first week to 10 days having severe abdominal flu symptoms and now with my lungs clearing out and sore throat from coughing it's honestly pretty bad. Even my ears hurt from all the draining going on. I have gas constantly but a BM is something that I consider a miracle now. Heartburn is a pretty much constant along with headaches. Being a server this is starting to affect me at work. Luckily for the next few weeks I have short shifts but the will be swinging back to full on close shifts. Of course I am going to hold out. Got some info on a herb shop ( Legal herbs 😃 ) and going to check around for some homeopathy stuff. Also am going to try some coffee enemas and possibly colonics. I am a vegetarian so I can't eat any more ruffage than I already do. I do understand I spent over 20 years putting all kinds of poisons into my body but never have I been sick for more than 2 days at a clip. I have heard several people I have known throughout my life say they would never quit smoking as every time they do they become constantly and severely ill. Me, I'm holding out. There has to be a point where every day gets better and better and I finally feel great. All of these people can't be telling stories. Has anyone else had such a severe time when tossing the cancer sticks out. Has anyone else noticed that in the beginning that colds and mysterious illnesses seem to haunt them. Well I refuse to give up. Hang in there everyone.

Hi there,

Hang in there - it will get better. It can take awhile but one day soon you'll notice a bit more energy, a clearer head etc.

Wow. Your body is really doing an extreme cleansing! I quit 3 months ago and did not have any after effects at all??? I was waiting for the coughing, phlegm, and flu like symptoms. It never happened? My coworker on the other hand (Quit 1 month before me) went through the cleansing period, and still has a cough.

I guess everyone goes through their own cycle when quitting smoking. THE BOTTOM LINE IS YOUR ARE DOING FANTASTIC FOR NOT GOING BACK! HANG IN THERE...IT WILL GET BETTER.

Ronny, Your symptoms are not unusual at all. Though they are not had by everyone, I understand that about 10% of quitters go through what you are going through. I went through that as well. My stomach/ digestive/ bowel system was so messed up, my doc even sent me for a CT scan. Anyway...my symptoms lasted awhile....almost 90 days I guess. After severe constipation, I then had a week of nothing but diarrhea which left me dehydrated and with a urinary tract infection. I had to run through some antibiotics then. But these problems suddenly and spontaneously corrected just as suddenly as they began! And afterwards, I have felt better than ever, and with more energy than I have had in years and years!!! So hang in there and know that the pain you are going through is just your body's way of moving from an unhealthy to a healthy state and more than likely you are going to feel better than ever soon!! See your doctor for help if it gets intolerable.........But DO NOT SMOKE!!!! Remember...you aren't having these symptoms because you are quitting, you are having them because you smoked!!! Be strong!

I don't remember having any of that stuff. I smoked for 51 years and all I felt after the first day or so was a welcome ability to take deep breaths and a sense of relief! 😉
