One Year Smoke Free!!!

This is something I never thought I'd be doing and that's writing a blog on here celebrating my own 1 year anniversary of being an X!  I'm so amazed and proud of myself that I have gone for an entire year and not even one puff..It hasn't been easy, in fact sometimes down right hard but I did it.

Honestly there are still times that I really want to light up a cigarette but I have been strong enough so far to say NO.  When I look back and think about this year I realize I haven't sacrificed anything (which is what I felt like it was in the beginning), but have gained a whole year of not spending my money on something that was killing me.  Haven't had to always think before I left home "oh I have to carry my cigarettes and lighter" and haven't had to try to find some place to hide in public while I could get a quick fix of nicotine.  It really does feel so freeing, not to mention I don't have to worry about smelling like an ashtray either!

I know I will have to continue fighting the addiction at times for the rest of my life but I know I can do it now.  Thank you all for your support...

Nice to see you Carolyn. And HUGE CONGRATS on your first, of many,  I hope, smoke-free years.  Come back more often and spread your wisdom and support!

We all have those times we really want to light up a cigarette, but as the years go by they become less and less.  As long as we stay mindful and do some quit maintenance now and again, the smoke-free years keep rolling in.  Hope you did something special to celebrate!

CONGRATULATIONS ON 1 YEAR!!!! Sneaking off to find a hiding place is something I don't miss, either. We never have to worry about that again.

Congratulations! One day at a time and the days (and years) add up!  It's way better to be an EX smoker who thinks about smoking once in a while than a smoker who has to smoke.
