I did it!!!! A year ago today, I made the best decision I've ever made.
I decided to become a non-smoker and I smoked my very last cigarette.
It's almost hard to believe how quickly this year flew by, and how easy it was to succeed as smoking became farther and farther behind me. It was hard in the beginning and there was the withdrawal and various other symptoms, but a year later, I feel as though I've never smoked. It's a thing of the past. It's no longer a part of my life, or my thoughts. I still have things to work on such losing the weight I've gained, and finding healthy and productive ways of dealing with stress, but overall, I'm much healthier now and I feel much better than I did.
A year ago, this seemed like the hardest decision I'd ever made but today, I can say it's the best decision I've ever made and looking back, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I can honestly say that being ready to quit made it so much easier to persevere and stay on track. Believing I could quit, visualizing myself as a non-smoker also helped. What you focus on grows. I focused on being successful more often than I obsessed over what would happen if I failed. Naturally, I succeeded because that's what I chose to focus on.
All of the people who read and responded to my blogs and offered encouragement, support, insights, advice or reached out with personal stories helped me most of all. I am so truly grateful for this site, the tools it provides and most of all for the great support system it offers. When I think of my success, I always remember those who helped see me through, for each and everyone one of them contributed to my success.
I am truly grateful and I am truly blessed.
