Oh, the cravings!

I asked my husband to quit smoking with me. Bless his heart! He agreed and we have both been without for 27 hours. I walked into my college class last night, right beside a female student who has taken many classes with me. As I said hi, I happen to glance down and see her cigarettes sitting at the top of her purse. Ouch! I told myself that I would wait until after class to ask her for one. (If no one but her knew, what hurt could it do, right?!) At the end of class my legs were jumping and my hands were shaking. I realized how bad my addiction had become and raced to my car, avoiding my classmate. As soon as I closed my door, I dumped out my purse looking for my cell. I immediately called my mother-in-law (an ex-smoker) and she talked me down!!! I felt ashamed that I was willing to "lie" to myself, my husband, my kids, and my family just so I could satisfy a craving that I knew would eventually subside. I am so thankful for my support group and glad that they are willing to see my weaknesses, as raw as they are.
