Oh, the Yuck of it All!!!

I am crawling the walls today.  Mostly due to boredom but it's also one of those days where everything I try to do goes awry and that's incredibly frustrating.

My hands hurt.  Bad.  I can only surmise that it's from pulling weeds yesterday.  This ache has made it much harder for me to occupy myself.  So I decided to clean at least one small corner of my house.  I thought I'd start with the little entry area.  That way, I won't be hit with the smell of smoke as soon as I come in the door.

Well, some brainiac thought it would be a good idea if all the closets in this house had louvered closet doors.  So I had to clean 124 slats.  In order to get the entire surface and in the corners, I had to use a table knife covered with a washcloth (didn't help my hands any either).  When I got done and dumped the water I was using, I was shocked by how filthy dirty it was.  Now, these slats weren't exactly clean when I moved in here about a year ago so I can't take the full blame but YUCK!!!

And then, I was talking to my son (I think I've said that he has quit smoking too) and remembered that for the first couple of weeks, he would still have the occasional cigarette (I know cause he bummed them from me).   He was going to the store for a soda and he offered to get a pack of my cigarettes and dole them out to me at the rate of 2 per day.  I am SO proud of myself because I told him no.  🙂  Wee ha!

By the way, I have now been smoke-free for a solid week.  I still feel like billy-hell and I'd still just as soon kill someone as look at them ... but I'm hanging in there!
