Officially 24 Hours!

So it has been 24 hours since my last cigarette and I am still strong in my resolve to quit! I won't lie, today wasn't a cake walk, but it was not the hellfire and brimstone I worked myself up to. I was able to identify potential times and events that would trigger a craving and meet them head on.

I had a humorous moment that happened today that I kept thinking about.  I was talking to a friend of mine later in the afternoon and having an irritable moment. I told her "Jeez, everybody is so annoying today!" and her response was "Hello! You have found these people annoying for years now! The only different thing about this situation is you aren't smoking, not that they are more or less irritating!"

It was not only humorous, but true. I had found these people annoying for the better part of three years. Also, my interactions with them had not changed and neither had I. But for some reason in that moment I was expecting the world to be different since I no longer smoked, but it wasn't. I loved her matter of fact approach and I wish I had a picture of her face when she said that, priceless.

For the rest of the day I thought about our conversation and chuckled and used that moment to get through the rough patches, like 5 o'clock rush hour and the jackass thst cut me off. Instead of getting angry, I laughed to myself and said "yep, it is the same world and the same me. Bad drivers, my road rage, and all".

Thank you to everyone whos support has helped me reach the 24 hour mark. I am very excited and feel confident about the days to come! As I climb into bed, tonight is not as weird as last night, there are no cigarettes here and it is fine with me.
