OMG it's Day 30!!

Actually it's already day 31 but I haven't been to bed yet so I'm doing my 30th blog post.  Wow - what seemed like a distant fist goalpost was attained way quicker than I thought it would be.  I guess when I wake up on Day 31 I will be in NML.

Why, you might ask, is Donna writing her blog at 1:30 in the morning.  I'll tell you.  I went to work today as usual, but was really having trouble catching my breath.  My boss even asked if I was all right.  At 11:30 I called my doctor and asked if I could come in.  She said go to the ER.  I said how about this evening, I've got lots of work to do.  She said no, now.  So I did.  Spent most of the day there, they gave me several treatments and put me on steroids and said it was an exacerbation of my COPD.

Damn.

Of course they gave me lots of kudos for quitting smoking, and the triage nurse took great pleasure in going into the hospital records system and changing me from a smoker to a non-smoker!!  I liked it too!

Then I went back to the office at around 4:30 and worked until 10:30 and came home and watched the last episode of Parenthood (my favorite show) and then ate dinner, and I'm very wired, so I continued working on my taxes.  I happened to glance at the clock and realized I had missed my blog for the first time!!

So, my friends, thank you so much for being here for me, and for taking this very intimidating but rewarding journey with me.  We never sugar coat anything.  It's hard to quit smoking but it's NOT too hard; it's doable.  And it's so much harder living with the effects of smoking.  I lived that once again in the ER today.  Peace and love to you all.

Tomorrow will be the first installment from NML.  I had pledged to myself that I would blog every day for the first 30 days and I have.  I don't know whether it will be every single day in NML (who knows, it might be) but I look forward to sharing that leg of the journey with my friends here at EX.

Hey there,

Returning on the hugs! I am glad they did not keep you in the hospital. Feel free to read my blog called My Big Scare that I wrote on November 3, 2014, (page 4 in my blogs) I experienced something similar, so I praise God that you are OK!!! And safe!!! I hope and pray you remember this experience to help you stay quit. Day 30 is huge! And a amazing milestone, I too am so very proud of you, and am glad you went to the hospital before it got worse.

You're doing an amazing job! Be proud of yourself, and I am praying for you too. Thanks for getting back despite what you have gone through today. I'm truly glad you're alright.

I am sooooooo very happy that you are an EX SMOKER yay. I am sorry about your episode with your copd but am happy that you are on day 31 of your amazing quit. If you haven't already maybe read jonescarps aka dales page concerning your first 4 months. I read his page over and over again when I was in NML and it hhelped me to get to where I am today. Relax and enjoy your weekend.

I would reather breathe than smoke

I don't have to do that to myself anymore.

I am so glad that you are alright, so sorry for the scare.  I am sure you were wired from all the meds.  Pat yourself on the back for being a nonsmoker, it is a wonderful accomplishment.  Happy entry into NML, I am sure you will "ace" it.  Personally, I really enjoy reading your blogs so I hope they continue, if not daily, at least very frequently.

Congrats on a major milestone! And for making it to No Man's Land! The next 100 days will test your skills at thinking beyond what you already feel. It's a make-or-break "journey of the mind" for just about every quitter, so ask for guidance if you need it.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Excellent! Hugs for making it through your hospital visit. I had no idea they would remove the smoking label line that. How supportive.
