THIS IS HUGE!!!!!

ok soo its not a gold medal, but in a way its my own olynpics...lol

I am 46 yo and started smokin a 15t, it hit me ....(after a breathing tx at the local er) THATS 30YEARS PPL! so on the drive home that night(and yes i smoked,,,,,sigh) i took the chantix out of the medicine cabinet and started the program.

5 Daysof no smoke in my lungs after 30 years  is huge, i honestly did not think it would happen.

I have tried before and actually  had some one buy me a pack to shut me up...lol

Any way, bein much younger and wiser, i have figured 1 thing out,YOU CANNOT DO THIS FOR ANYONE BUT YOURSELF! seriously,i have quit for parents, for bad relationships, for jobs and this time iquit for me because i like to breathe........i want to climb stairs and not be winded,i want to do things i avoid now because I CANT BREATHE!

Im not sayin this is'nt hard ,cuz honey it is the hardest thing i have ever done (right up there with taxes and divorce!) In fact this day five was almost as bad as day 2, had horrible cravings today!

But, what got me through today was tellin myself that i had 5 days and was'nt that a victory in itself?, and is'ntit the litle victories that will win the war?....

Only problems i have been having really ia being  pretty tired all the time and my concentration on stuff is a little off....hope that gets better soon.

so take care all and wish me as much hope and luck as i wish all of you.......cyn

Congrats on your milestone! The brain fog is often due to either/or low blood sugar and dehydration. It will help to eat frequent small meals and drink lots of fluids and I do mean lots of water! You are right that it does really rank up there with the hardest fought victories I have had also!

I am so proud of your accomplishments even more so because of the lenght of your addiction! We all have stories of smoking in really ludicris situations like we somehow were immortal to the effects and tolls that cig were to take on our life! I am glad you have stopped and I remember that I must always define myself by my nicotine addiction. Never another puff! You deserve this, we all deserve this! One day by day we will not smoke. Soon the days become 7 weeks cold turkey and getting better everyday! Fight the craves with your very life, because that is what this battle is worth!

Congratulations - I am so proud of you.  It really does get easier and easier, and you are worth the effort.  I was a long term heavy smoker too, and this is day 35 for me, and I am totally committed!

Making it to 5 days IS a gold medal!  I started smoking when I was 15 and quit for good when I was 49.  Best decision I ever made.  I love being a non-smoker and you will too!
