OK, so I've Quit Smoking

Seventy-two hopurs and no cigarette. I started with chantix because that helped in the past. However, this time it caused me to itch from head to toe. Oh goody. I have to make a decision. Do I take chantix and scratch or do I stop taking it and develop a nervous tick?

So far I have done pretty good. I haven't had the desire to strangle anyone, but of course, I have been totally alone during these first 72 hours. And when I say totally alone, I mean even the dog has kept her distance. They say dogs can sense hidden anxiety in people, well I guess Abigail really sensed something being that for the first time in four years she left the yard and will not come when I call. She chose instead to go up the hill to visit Luke.

She thinks she is smarter than me, but she doesn't have me fooled. She went there to visit because SHE'S addicted to nicotine. After all, she has been around second-hand smoke all her life. I can just imagine what's going through her mind. "Hmph. The old biddy quit smoking. Gave no thought about my addiction. Listen to her talk about withdrawal. Wonder if it ever ocurred to her I might be going through a few withdrawal symptoms of my own. That's all right. I'll just go up the hill with the smokers and get my nicotine fix. Besides, I don't like that crazed look she gets every couple of hours. Makes me kind of nervous. And the way she's eating everything in sight, well I am definitely going to sleep with one eye open. And I am NOT going to sleep on the foot of her bed anymore."

So my own dog deserted me. That's fine. She has to come home to eat some time.
