Not Sure What To Call This One

To all of you struggling in your Quits, I say, "Peace be with you - breathe deeply and take a hot bath."

I've noticed much angst in the blogs over the past few days. I would think that's normal for a site full of nicotine addicts trying to overcome.

And speaking of overcome, my hometown is where a seamstress named Rosa and a young Baptist preacher named Martin helped people overcome something larger and more insidious than all of our addictions put together. You think Day 1 of a Quit is hard? Try Day 1 of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.

The Movement overcame discrimination with focus, patience, perseverance and faith, not to mention plain hard work. Its members reached out to others and found support in the most unlikely places. They held each other up during long, difficult days.

Sound familiar?

I think we in the Ex Movement shall overcome. I truly do. Not easily and not without struggle and not because somebody thinks we should, but because we are here in person, working on our own Cause with eyes facing forward.

May, I thought that you might be interested to know that in my grade 4/5 class yesterday (I'm a teacher, not a student LOL), we talked about the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Martin Luther King. Yes...I said yesterday, on Martin Luther King day! What were we doing at school on MLK Day? We live in Canada (Toronto, Ontario). It's not a holiday in Canada, but we sure do appreciate and teach what MLK and others accomplished during the Civil Rights Movement. You're right. Quitting the nicodemon is nothing in comparison.

Aren't we lucky that a hot bath is one of our battle techniques?

Great timing, good thoughts

Peace to you my friend (and  nice hot bath! 🙂 )

Great point May! We all have our struggles, but we tend to forget the greatest struggles that have been endured before us!

We've already come so far in this country and this life - quitting smoking is a bump in the road in comparison!

The Ex community is definitely the future movement with the state of the future health care system. The people who quit now are not only smart but lucky too! Soon, everyone will be told they have to or else! No one will hire people who smoke if they have to pay for their health care.  (Okay- don't get me going,,lol)

Perfect Timing for sure!

Peace out Sista!

That's putting it in perspective. Makes us seem a little whiny and trivial. It helps to be told to suck it up and stop feeling sorry for ourselves. It could be worse, we could be paralyzed with no hope or terminal and hating to leave our families to struggle without our help. Thanks May. It helps to have this thing not seem so big
