No Buts

This would seem like a simple thing, but sometimes it needs repeating. I am officially done with fall semester at school now. It feels nice to have a break for a couple of weeks! Anyway, I was working with a student who told me she quit smoking. The very next day, she excused herself to go and have a cigarette. I said to her "I thought you quit." She said, I did, BUT a bunch of crap happened last night and I got stressed blah blah blah..... If you catch yourself saying this, realize it for what it is, EXCUSES TO KEEP SMOKING.

NO BUTS!

If you want to quit smoking for good, you can't have any buts!

I can totally relate because I have done that at least 100 times. I was full of BUTS.... Thanks for the reminder!

No excuses, "Smoking is never an option". There is never a ligitimate reason to smoke, it is simply a decision one makes to "smoke" or "not to smoke". Not smoking takes a lot less effort, it's free, you don't have to go outside to do it and it can be done while doing any other activity. Easy peasy pie.

Yeah, tricky part:  To quit smoking actually requires that you stop lighting up.

When I finally got my head wrapped around "can't smoke 'em if you don't have 'em"...I was on my way to a lasting quit.

It takes what it takes...but wish I didn't have to wait so long to learn that one....

Good to see you Break!  Big Hugs!

Perfectly said. 'IF YOU REALLY WANT TO QUIT SMOKING- YOU CANT HAVE ANY BUTTS."

Stop making excuses for why you need to have a smoke.

Do something constructive with your time- sit down and write (type) out 10 beneficial reasons to stop smoking.

GREAT!

Now write out 10 reasons to remain a smoker

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... Now you get it?
