From the chantix official site safety information , it states :
You should not use CHANTIX while using other medicines to stop smoking. Using CHANTIX with a nicotine patch may cause nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, upset stomach, and tiredness to happen more often than if you just use a nicotine patch alone. https://www.chantix.com› faqs FAQs | CHANTIX® (varenicline) Official Site | Safety Info
Yes yes it is frustrating for sure but you are doing great .. keep going .
What are you missing ? The stink , the constant craving you will continue to have if you still smoke ?
Are you missing having less money or grateful cause you will have more . Look at it through the lenses of clean glasses not foggy ones .
You are doing great ... any concerns with the zyban and chantix I recommend talking to your dr . Read the insert or the official website for dosages , side effects , how to cut down etc but most importantly with the two prescription ones follow your doctors advise.
They know you best and your medical conditions .
The patch really isnt effective if you are using chantix ... google how chantix works .
You are exactly feeling like one does early in their quit. Watch out for HALT, Hungry, Alone, Lonely, Tired...they can be a trigger...take care of each one and delay the urge to smoke. Way to go on 9 days of Freedom ~ Colleen
I did not use any aids to quit but l was so sick that all of my energy went into trying to breathe. I would pay attention to what Maki shared, sounds pretty important. You might also ask your pharmacist.
lt IS hard at the beginning but it DOES get easier.
I used the strongest patch and when I forget to wear it two days in a row my second week, I put one in my wallet with a promise to myself I would put it on rather than smoke. It stayed there my first year.
(Logic told me If I didn't miss 21mg of nicotine 2 days in a row, what was it doing for me and why would I keep using it?)
Big congrats on 9 days smoke free. What your feeling now is normal.
Are you taking Chantix or Zyban. already or just inquiring about them? From what I've read they don't recommend that you take them together.
There seems to be conflicting information out there on taking a combinations of aids. I've read articles on the web for and against taking Chantix and nicotine patches, but information is consistent about it being ok to take Zyban with NRT together. In fact, I took Welbutrin (Zyban) with nicotrol inhalers as prescribed by my doctor.
You would take Chantix or Zyban before you quit smoking to give it time to build up in your system.
If your still deciding what aids to use, please consult with your doctor.
Thank you for acknowledging my progress so far! Some of it easy, moments it’s HARD are unforgiving. I had taken Zyban previously and my husband reminded me I did NOT do well emotionally. I’ve been somewhat “off” since on it. I’m in the process of switching to Chantix exclusively. Glad to hear you’ve read both sides of using patch. I need all the help I can get... will downgrade to step 2 soon, might skip step 3. I love how you want to help newbies like -me! I want to hear the in’s and outs of those who has been there
Please don't self medicate though. We're not physicians, so check with your doctor. Here is some information I compiled on NRT. Hope you find it helpful.
Please read the instructions for Chantix. You take it before you quit smoking. If you've already quit, maybe you don't need it.
Quitting r/t work. Know that’s not best reason. Been smoking 41 years. RN- not cool nor professional to be a smoker. Very nervous of how I’ll handle it. Married in Raleigh, NC. 10 yo son
