Three days off nicotine. Again not trying the gum or patch or anything. Chewing on wodden stirrer sticks. Anyway, woke up this morning and find my roommate has started smoking and left an almost full pack of Kools on the kitchen counter. I'm going to try and exercise later so I know swooping one would make me slower and coughy then. Not the biggest fan of cheap menthols either. Never really exercised regularily before but I'm trying to make it my anti-smoking. As soon as I slipped up a week ago, I stopped working out and haven't since. I'm going to throw those lung darts in his cabinet and going to make something to eat, then workout, then throw out some massive resumes, go to church tomorrow with my dad, then play tennis with him, then look at future school options, then fix my bike, then ride to Mad Men. I think that's an alright plan for the next few. They're not smoking or drinking in Mad Men as much this season so far; it defined the show but I'm glad they are relying on story more than a haze of smoke. They were a character in the show. Other shows didn't have it. I guess like our lives, they used to be characters, friends, but not very good friends all things considered.

I like it cigarettes are a character eh?I guess they would be the friend that steals your wallet and helps you look for it..cigarettes..the relief a smoker feels is not true relaxation it is the relief of not going into withdrawal. Great job on having 3 days! So happy you have chosen to make this healthy change in your life. When I first quit, I fancied myself a runner. About three days in, I went out with my husband for a jog. My husband is NOT in good shape. This is why i was so surprised that his stamina far exceeded mine. Needless to say, the run did not go well. I could barely walk fast, let alone run with him. He made a well meaning jibe, and I freaked out on him. In hindsight, its actually kind of funny. That irritation and anger fades quickly. Hope my story gave you a chuckle, keep up the good work!

Hi Ryan and welcome to EX!!!

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try and we will support you. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this......nobody said it will be easy, we just said it would be worth it....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF
