I never in my wildest dreams imagine that I would attain 128 days! After 44 years of smoking only 1/2 pack a day, I gave myself a pat on the back for hiding it well! Then I had a spirometry test at a pulmonary doctor! UGH!!! Chronic bronchitis was the great diagnosis! Then my twin cousin was diagnosed with lung cancer at age 61. Two months later she died.
I look at this no sickerette journey and a freedom march; not a "giving up."
I saw a smoking cessation counselor at our local hospital for free (working under grant), whom I had to report to weekly.
I educated myself and lived on this site ever grateful for the wisdom words of EXers.
I take the daily pledge first thing in the morning, acknowledging that nicotine is an addiction that I Can overcome for 24 hours.
Sickerettes in this state are $8.45 a pack. I carry no more than $5.00 cash in my wallet. Plain and simple - I threw them in the trash the day before my date and don't carry the $ to buy more.
I have enough dum dum lollipops (Sure taste great) to overcome any thoughts of smoking.
This is an incredible freedom march, which I am so happy I took and invite others to join us!
