Hello Friends

I have been away for a very long time.  Don't know why as I feel so welcome here.  Anyway, I have to be honest,  We have been planning a killer vacation to Los Vegas (first time there).  About a month before, getting so excited, planning, packeing, the ugly nic monster reared his ugly head.  I just couldn't stop thinking about a cig.  I gave in.  Told myself this will only be for a while.  The same old excused just made it ok.  All my friends I am going with smoke so I'll just quit again when I get back.  Well Vegas was a blast. but not the quitting again.  So.......I have gone 288 days.  I quit again today and will be here often,  Do you think I should re set my quit date or just blow this off as a stumble and with my friends here support can continue.

Thanks........Jon

Support will continue unconditionally, Johnny!

The real question is do I lie to myself about my Addicion or do I face the TRUTH? You know the answer to that!

Everyone is different.. If it were me I would reset because I know its not a true quit.

  It has become crunged and poisoned and needs to be reborn and true!

Yes, re-set.    And figure out what happened that you gave in and smoked.     Taking a vacation is not reason to "take a vacation" from your quit.      So, re-set, re-think and YES we will be here for you.        Just be honest with yourself and with us.

I can't keep up with people who smoke and don't reset. Why, because things happen in your brain that you don't have control of. Did you resensitize your receptors to nicotine? I don't know.

It does mean that smoking was more important than freedom

@Dale isn't 800 a little harsh?????????

i was being facetious and rewrote my response to explain why it's hard for me to know what happens in the brain when someone smokes.

Definitely reset you must start at day 1 again. You can and will succeed in your quit this time.

Ok...OK.....yes.....your right.  I am at day one again.  Dam it.  But thats ok.  I know I can do this again, as I have in the past.  Was it worth it?  NO>  but we all have our little monster in our head and mine just got to the best of me.

Jon,

I am glad you understand that there is a price to pay for deciding to smoke - and make no mistake, it was a decision! I know starting from Day One again is discouraging, but you really ARE starting over.   I hope you spend some time remembering what caused you to give in and make a plan of what you will do differently if it occurs again.

You might want to do the recommended readings again to reinforce your knowledge.  If you need links, let me know.

Of course, we will be here for you.  Ask questions when you have them and for support when you need it!

You know what I think is even harder than quitting in the first place.....quitting again right after you slip up.  So good for you!!!!! That's an acomplishment in itself!! Keep up the great work I know you'll get to day 288 again and surpass it!!
