Today is day 7 for me and not doing too bad. But, I soon will be taking a 1 to 2 day road trip by myself. I am cleaning my car and I have CD's to listen to. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
Take a cooler filled with bottled water. A sip of cold, cold water can help with cravings. Also - pack a few foods to snack on.
Be sure your car smells fresh and clean and you won't want to stink it up!
Mostly - be 100% committed to your quit. There is never a good reason to smoke a cigarette. If you are truly committed the cravings will not be strong enough to trap you into smoking one. Also - KNOW that if you smoke one, you WILL be up to a pack before you know it. There is no such things as "only one ciggarette."
Congrats on day 7!!! Driving alone will be a challenge, but you can do it! It sounds like an important hurdle to get over, to show yourself you can drive for long periods of time without smoking!
Here are a few things I've been using. See if any of them sound good to you: mints, toothpicks, twizzlers, carrots, tons of fruit, zinc lozenges, rescue remedy (herbal stress relief from the health food store) and the homeopathic stuff (little bee bee size things that disolve on your toungue) that is supposed to reduce cravings. I'll admit that I have had a lot more sugar than I would normally eat, but having lots of options available as really helped me. Also tons of water with lemon or orange in it has also helped.
I'm cheering you on! I know you can do it and I'm looking forward to hearing how it goes!
