I am on day 33 of staying smoke free . I quit cold turkey after reading Allen Carrs book.

For last two days, I have been feeling very much on the edge and even thinking about buying a nicotine free e cigarette. I know that my body and mind still thinks about having a cigarette. Tonight, i have been feeling really restless.

How do i get over this feeling ? I feel threatend and want to stay on course . Help me out pls 🙂

First re-read Allen Carr's book. Make commitment to stay a non-smoker. I will stay smoke free. Take deep breaths. Go to Thomas page there is a blog on how deep breath. Also you may want to go jonescarp aka dale page he has a lot good links you can read.

get a bottle of cold water from your quit quit.... take a deep breath and realize you are probably tired... always review halt

hungry?

angry?

lonely

tired?

these are usually the feelings that trigger wanting to smoke...

the water is to helo rehydrate and yuou need alot of rest right now... so take a nap... your body is healing and that takes alot of energy

Yes. Work has been very stressful for last 2 days and I also havent been keeping myself hydrated.

These are good points.

In the beginning of my quit, I found keeping my mind distracted/busy/occupied was very helpful.  Sometimes, I would just go for a walk.

Exercise releases endorphins and a craving only lasts for a short period of time.  If you go for a 10 minute walk, the craving should have passed by the time your walk is done.  Releasing endorphins produces the same feel good sensation in your brain  you get from smoking.  So exercise is a good way to go.  It may also help with your enegy level.

Kudos by the way.  I think it's great you wrote a blog and asked for help instead of giving in to the craving.  That's great!  You're definitely on the right track.

You did it.  You came on here and blogged before lighting up.  Congratulations on your quit.

Whoa....Let me remind you (from someone who is dragging their butt back, after a fall)...

                                            This is a friendly reminder:

RESTARTING SUXS.....YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO RESTART....STICK TO WHERE YOU ARE.....IT WILL GET BETTER

Thank You : )

It is all a part of the process~ you have to do some deep-deep breathing and put those thoughts out of your mind.  The nicotine is out of your system (3 to 4 days) you are out of hell week and heck week and you are entering NML.  Look back at what you accomplished so far and listen to Cheyenne when she says YOU DON"T WANT TO RESTART!  You are doing well and every minute-every hour and every day without smoking is another notch in your quit belt, keep it up!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

Rethinking how to stay quit can be a tricky thing. You know you do NOT want to go back to cigarettes, so what OTHER things can you fall back on to make it easier? E-cigs might help with the desire to inhale something soothing, and lozenges and gum are NOT the same as smoking, right? Right? Yeah, it's easy to want to step backwards and find things that are as close to cigarettes without actually lighting up. To seek "a break from quitting" without actually slipping.

But, don't do it!

You see, this is precisely where LIVING starts to kick in! You've detoxed from nicotine now, and you've worked through much of the grieving process. Your mind knows that it is over with, and you're ready to move on....it's just weird to finally say goodbye, isn't it?

You can do this. When things calm down again (and they will), you'll be so incredibly happy that you saved your quit. You really will! It'll be a source of pride that will carry you another couple of weeks. Promise.

for the first 2 to 3 weeks of quitting you'll kind of feel like you are on a roller coaster, lots of ups and downs.  Hang in there because it definately gets much much better.  Keep drinking lots of water and do slow deep breathing.  If you can get in some brisk walking here and there that will help too.

I cant thank enough for rescuing me....

I was really edgy last night, and felt one e cig would not not hurt me .

Then i realized what am i thinking , let me blog and you guys came to the rescue.

Now i understand that one e cig could have caused a chain reaction and I would have been feeling miserable by now.

Thanks a lot. I know what to do , when there is a strong urge to pick that cigarette. I will be here to blog my feelings
