NYC Marathon

Fellow NON Smokers,

It has been since Indigenous People's Day, 2017 that I quit smoking and decide to change my life for the better. Although it is a constant struggle, I have not slipped once since that date.

AND, on November 7, 2021, I will be running in the NYC 50th Anniversary Marathon!

Thank you to this incredible website and the people who populate it for my success.

Wish me Luck!

That’s fantastic Lewis! Congratulations on maintaining your quit and on the NYC marathon!🎉🎉 Both are very big deal!

This gives hope to those of us newbies who are just a month into our quit that we can move on and do great things!

Good luck in the marathon!😊🏃🏻‍♂️🏅

You are amazing!!!

As I prepare for my quit date, I've been walking every day.  Yesterday on my walk, I got that URGE.  Not the urge for nicotine, but the urge to RUN!  I used to be an avid runner, and once you know that feeling, you never stop being a runner.

So, I am pretty darn sure I'm going to be running again very soon.

If you have any tips for me to prevent injury as I begin a running journey to accompany my quit journey, let me know.

So proud of you!!!  A marathon is super badass.

@RikkiJean

You probably want to start out walking, then add a bit of jogging, then more walking, then maybe a patch of running before you go back to walking.  That will ease you into it.  You can add more jogging/running to your walks as you move ahead.  And STOP if something starts to hurt.  No sense in putting your goal in jeopardy with an injury!

I hope @smokenomorelpj will add tips from their experience, too!
