NEWBIES!!!! Don't let ANYTHING fool you!

I have not smoked a cigarette for over two years....but don't let that fool you!  I am just like you and NEVER IMAGINED I could get to two + years smoke free.

I never need a cigarette....but don't let that fool you! I am just like you and there was a time when I could not drive, work, eat, live without a cigarette.

I never think smoking a cigarette would be GREAT...but don't let that fool you! I am just like you and once thought being able to have just one would be WONDERFUL.

I weigh the same now as when I smoked....but don't let that fool you! I am just like you and gained about 5- 10 pounds from quitting smoking (lost it easily after the first two months).

After a year of not smoking, I bought new living room furniture...but don't let that fool you! I am just like you and once was digging in the bottom of my purse for lost quarters to pay for those expensive cigarettes.

Don't be fooled by our numbers of days or years....we are just like you.

Are you thinking of quitting...making a plan? GREAT

Do you have one day, one week, one month smoke free? EXCELLENT

Did you slip but get right back up and start again--- vowing NOT to slip again? GOOD JOB

C'mon NEWBIES!!!! Hang in there and stay strong.....you can do it---don't let this addiction fool you!

Oh wow, I thought I was the only one who ravaged the house and the car for change to buy them. I literally spent an hour one day looking for change anywhere I could possibly find it. It was truly the sign of being addicted.

Awesome! You are exactly right. It IS an addiction, and I am convinced that like ALL addictions it will try to trick you. That  JUST ONE thought is the one that always brings me back to the next cigarette, and the next one, and on, and on. It will try to fool you. The good news is that all you good people on this site are here for support. I think my quit date is Feb. 4. I do not keep count every day. I DO stay very aware every day . Thanks to everyone here on this site, I am still an EXsmoker. I am grateful to all of you. Mike.

For it is in the shared struggles of our addictions that WE FIND our strength.   Thank you for sharing these wonderful words, Sootie!   Now we each must find our strength to defy this evil one.

I love you, Sootie!

Hi Sootie,

I'm rather new to this blog thing. But it is important to connect to pp like you who have been there, still there!!!

4 days out where I've been several times in my quit smoking schemes am doing ok.I've been here b/4.  I guess that saying "one day at a time" is the best way forward.  I know in a few weeks I'll feel that one won't hurt.  I know cigarettes don't play fair!! It is so hard to realize that I can NEVER smoke again.  But when I see the commericial on TV with pp with holes in their neck, I become very frightened.  Not the cost of smokes bothered me.  I would have paid any amount to smoke.

I guess everyone has a limit.  That was it for me.  I do not wish to live the rest of my life with a hole in my throat.

This site was a lifesaver with the support I received...so as you can see, I hung around to help others. I became friends with many people....some are here now and some are gone. Welcome to anyone who is new....this is EX....we are all here for each other.
