Hello,my name is Dorothy,I'm 53 I've been smoking since I was 16-17 to darn long I started out smoking about a half a pack a day.went to a full, And now I've been smoking almost 2 packs a day for about few Months now. I have had a scare with a nodule on my lung but it didn't do anything Thank God. You would think that would scare me enough to quit. But nope.I get so mad at myself but keep puffing. I'm glad I found this site I'm really praying I can beat this with all the tools and great advice. I'm ready.

Willingness, not Willpower.

Accept the fact you are quitting and you won't be fighting with yourself.

Start the self talk.

Whenever you think of smoking, say, I'm going to wait a little longer.

Don't deny yourself. Don't count.

No pressure, no negativity.

It will break the pattern and prove you don't need to smoke just because you thought you did,

Hi and Welcome to Ex’s Dorothyjack53

I am so glad you found our site...finding a nodule is not a good sign...glad your’s was ok...but commit to no more smokes...I know easier said then done...we are all in this journey together and all addicts...Let’s take this “step by step” so you don’t become overwhelmed.  Read at My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX here you will plan a quit date, learn about quitting and make your quit for YOU...then you prepare for that quit date like no other by becoming knowledgeable in this journey, read the blogs.  Also, set up those healthy items that will help you when you get an urge to smoke for example, hard candy, carrot sticks, water, puzzle, get out and take a walk, pray, etc., Quit Kit aka Tool Box

Take it one day at a time...most smokers feel they can’t quit for one day...do one day, then another and so on....This is hard work, but so doable....in time when the body heals from all we put in it (nicotine and chemicals) life is better without the smokes...You are Worth this QUIT....keep close to the support site, we are here to help each other...Happy Thursday ~ get working...~ Colleen 276 DOF

Welcome to the community. Your prayers are being answered you have come to the right place for support to quit smoking.  Now it going to take some work.  Quitting isn't easy but doable.  You have to be willing to go through whatever is necessary not to take a puff.  NOPE.  Making a commitment, and keeping that commitment to yourself will work wonders.  Make a vow never to ever touch a cigarette ever again.  Educate yourself about nicotine addiction and what is happening to your body.  Make a plan for how you are going to go about your quit. Come here often read the blogs and make comments. You can do this so many of us have. Welcome EX  You can do all thing through Christ who strengthens us. Know you just have to be willing.  My EX Plan | BecomeAnEX

Welcome to the Ex.  Glad you're here with a quit date in sight.  In the meantime, educate yourself about nicotine addiction and have your plan in place.  Preparation is the key to success.  Many of us have had scares or seen others suffer the consequences of smoking, but continued to smoke.  It' a serious addiction, so don't feel bad about that.  Leave the past behind and look forward to a healthier you.  We'll be celebrating your quit date on the 30th.  Stay close and reach out if you need help.
