My first weekend as a non-smoker.

Friday was tough, the end of my work week and I USED to sit down at the kitchen table drinking a glass of wine and smoking my cigarettes while my kids would be waving the smoke out of the air  telling me "Gosh mom your killing me", but this Friday what we did was sit down at the table and talked and I had my bottle of water with me. Saturdays and Sundays I would have cigarettes with coffee for breakfast and lunch, but not his weekend.  I went to do my taxes, IHOP for lunch, the dry cleaners, BJ's,and The Home Depot.  I did have cravings, but I talked back to them and told them to leave me alone I dont have time for this foolishness, I have other things to do with my life than smoke.  After my long day out and about Saturday I came home and washed all the walls in the kitchen to prep for my paint job for Sunday and  I noticed that the patch had came off and was laying on my counter.  I got scared when I saw that patch there, I looked at it and said a little prayer and kept on cleaning. Yesterday, Sunday, I worked in my kitchen for 8 hours, and I think I had 3 cravings but they only lasted for a minute or so. All in all I had a wonderful smoke free weekend.  I am gaining my FREEDOM.

Congratulations on those first important days! I had a similar thing happen to me the other day. I was at work and my patch fell off. It was a while before I felt it moving about under my shirt. I never really noticed that it fell off but then the patches do keep delivering nicotine for a couple of hours after you take them off.

I stuck it back on and finished out the day. Funny thing is the next morning when I put a new one on, I actually got dizzy which tells me the patch wasn't working the day before and I never really noticed the lack of nicotine. It just goes to show that the mind is a big part of our quits. So long as I thought I was wearing the patch, I was O.K. even though it wasn't working.

Just stepped down to the 7MG ones yesterday. Feeling it a little but not bad. Your going to do just fine!!

Have a good day!

Congrats!  I love the thought "I don't have time for this foolishness", I'm going to borrow that if you don't mind!

Stay strong, post often! We're here!

Congradulations!  I think that is just wonderful.  When I have tried to quit, all I could do is sit there and think about the thought that I wasn't smoking.  I like this 'get busy' thing.  My quit date is Thursday the seventh.  It was the 19fh of May but I have moved it up.  I have had two promising practice runs, so I'm ready to do it.

Please keep up the good work and keep posting.  Your kids must be very proud of you!

That's great!  It does get better.  Self-talk has gotten me through some pretty tough cravings.  I think my worst thing is when my stress level gets high.  We just have to find better things to do with our stress levels.  I find taking a walk or an exercise class really helps with that.

It was my first weekend too! Congratulations! I had the same thing happen to me with the patch. It fell off for a few hrs before I even noticed .. it was right around the time to put a new one on that I noticed, lol. I do the same thing with the cravings - I just talk myself down, fighting with my craving until I no longer need it. The mental wrestling match off & on during the day is exhausting sometimes - but so worth it in the end!

Good Luck & Congrats!!
