OK, 99 days ago I quit smoking, and with this quit I made a promise to myself that I would do something much more functional with that money (my own self-imposed system) that I would make sure that I came up with to buy cigarettes.  I decided that for a usual-2-pack-a-day-person, that $10 a day was a nice round number. I put it into my 'Landscape Fund" for a house I have lived in for nearly 11 years and still hadn't landscaped.  The farther I got with this quit and saw the money adding up, and started to double the fund because, well, I felt I deserved it as a little reward and something I've been wanting to do for a long time.  I just made it a priority, like I did quitting (and like I used to make smoking).

Well, here I am on the cusp of Day 100, the Triple digits!  This weekend they planted my new tree in the front yard, and this morning the landscape guys started all the work on the flower beds all around the house --- they anticipate being done by tomorrow (for my tripe-digit-anniversary).   I'm finding it pretty cool to be able to think that everytime I go outside and look at my great new landscaping, I can revel in it along with the fact of this other critical milestone in my life.

Yea Spring, for a zillion reasons!  Hang in there everyone, and maybe it just worked for me but I strongly encourage you newbies to start squirreling away that cash you always managed to find for smokes --- it's AMAZING how fast it actually adds up!!  Do something special to celebrate the new you!!
