My Quit Date

Thanks for all the advice and support.  I have another question, on my quit date (which is 2 days away) do I quit anytime that day or when I wake up or does it matter?

I don't think it matters as long as you quit. In my case I got up from bed and said "today I will become a nonsmoker." That was 663 days ago.

some people have their last cigarette the night before they quit.

I saved ONE for the morning of my quit so I didn't wake up craving nicotine and make myself crazy thinking about it.

Three hours later, I went to the store and bought some patches.

When I get back to the time I had that last cigarette each year, another year is complete.

I am also using patches and gum, starting on my quit date.  Thanks for the advice.

Congratulations on setting your quit date and preparing for your forever quit! You got this!

I took Chantix, and had my last cigarette the night before my quit date.  Somehow that seemed like a good idea to start a fresh new smokefree life at the start of another day.  It seems to me that it might be more difficult to stop AFTER you've started the receptors back up in the morning - but that is probably just me.

Whatever you decide is best for you will be.

Doesn't matter.  But be sure to run all the remaining cigarettes (if any) under the sink tap.  I smoked my last, went to bed and started fresh free the next morning.  Psychologically I couldn't have handled waking up and smoking and then quitting later in the day.  Do what you will be most comfortable with.  If it works for you, you're doing it right!
