Okay, last smoke at 4:00 yesterday. Am 21 hours in and so far this hasn't been too bad , other than I am having trouble sleeping. Tossed and turned all night and finally got up at 5:00 a.m. I had one bad craving today when riding in the car. CHewed a stick of regular gum and it finally passed. Took awhile though. Hubby is doing okay also, he has a couple more hours in than I do. We are both tired and a little irritable, but hanging in there. Son and grandson coming today for son's birthday dinner. My son smokes so it should be a bit of a challenge. I am going to have to chase him outside, as I don't think I am ready to be around smoking yet. Besides, I have already noticed the smell in the house and have been cleaning all morning. Washing drapes, clothes, etc. THat is also helping with the craves, I am fine until I stop, then I go to light a cigarette and realize I can't, no big deal just keep on moving and it goes away.

Hopefull, this won't get any worse in the next couple of days.

Well, dont be surprised if it does get worse. And if it does, have yourself ready to fight it off. Whatever it might be, Just dont smoke!!! It was VERY hard for me, but I survived Hell week, and am at the end of week2 now. It is already a world of difference,as far as how much easier it gets.I also cleaned alot. Your house will be the cleanest it's been in years!! 🙂 Also, DO NOT allow your son to smoke in the house. It is WAY TO SOON!! Keep up the good work. Stay strong. It gets easier. Dawn - Awesome job!! Hang in there, girl! I understand about cleaning, I've just spent the last hour cleaning the front room, next is my office area where my computer is. My friend also told me what Kristi mentioned, don't be surprised if it gets worse, she had a pretty difficult time with her's too, but she had the nic gum and it helped her through it. Of course we may be some of the lucky ones that won't suffer as others have, and then ours may be delayed (I may be fine then have an awful day next week) I am prepared and I know you are too, we have our support systems and our plan to fight. I will never go back to smoking no matter how hard or easy this quit is....This is one time that I will proudly state " am an Quitter!!"

Fantastic!

Yeah, the sleep issues (either sleeping all the time or not at all) are annoying for a few days. It's because the nicotine receptors in your brain hi-jack the seratonin pathways. So, when you quit smoking, those are out of whack until the brain chemistry adusts. That plays havoc with sleep pattens. It's no biggie. It will sort itself out.

Just keep doing what you are doing. If you are like me, you are probably amazed you could go 24 hours without a cigarette and the world didn't come to an end. I was sure it would. So, I had to go a second 24 hours, just to find out!

Just keep taking it an hour at a time. The first couple days are just kind of muddle through them, like trudging up a steep hill. Then, it starts getting a little easier. Just keep on doing what you are doing!

Okay morning of second full day, still not sleeping thats why I'm posting at 6:00 am. Been up for over an hour. Still hanging in there. Had a moment this morning when I sat down at the computer, I didn't know if I could do this without a cigarette. I tried, and after a couple ofminutes it was fine. I can't believe I made it one whole day!

Waking up on my third morning without smoking. Never thought it would happen. It was such a part of my life. I can't say that there haven't been moments where I missed it, because I have. BUt, when that happens I go back and remind myself about why I quit. THat is enough to get me through. Hubby and I still not sleeping well. I have today off work, but hubby was suppose to return today. He is staying home, only had 3 hours of sleep. We have one more day of "vacation". I actually felt well enough yesterday evening that I sat down long enough to watch a movie. I had been afraid to sit still for that long before. It went fine, no major craves, just a couple of times when I reached toward the end table for my cigs and then realized they weren't there. I can't believe how many times a day I reach for them without thinking. I don't consider these times craves, because it doesn't bother me to just walk away. So one major crave yesterday, after we had company, family that usually pushes us over the edge. When they left my husband and I both looked at each other and said the same thing. Now I want one badly! LOL. Then we went and found the gum!
