So I went to the corner store and got some gum,candy,popcorn, you know 🙂
Get to the check stand and a rugged guy in front of me, waiting his turn, get to the cashier and she says " your usual 4 packs?" he said you betcha.. yep he's a regular
I put all my junk on the counter and I said "and this is what you can buy when you quit that addiction" ... he looked at me SHOCKED and said
Boy I sure wish I could, I said why cant you? He said, cause Ive been smokin since I was 9. I said so? He said Im too old and bla bla bla . I said well dude, I smoked 2-3 packs a day for 30 years, you dont have it any worse than any other addict including me(keep in mind, its a busy Saturday afternoon at the store and by now we have everyones attention)
I think he was just so shocked I would even talk to him. let alone have the smoke balls to discuss his addiction. Maybe he was ashamed.
So I ended my little speech by saying, well, you gotta have it in your head you are ready to stop being a slave and when that day comes, you will be free and can join me, I joined a group online called becomeanex .. we'll be waitin for ya...
I smiled and had a good feelin, that old dude is sure gonna thinkk bout me tonight 🙂
I walked out and said to myself WINNING !!
He reminded me of the Marlboro man on the billboard, he got old !! Raspy voice, nasty smokers fingers, otherwise would have been a handsome dude. I felt sorry for him.
