Maybe it's the crowd?

We had a great school field trip today. The weather was gorgeous and my son's class went to the marina park for a couple of hours on it's huge playground. Following that was a stop at the Children's Museum. Later in the day, it was Mommy-daughter time as she was part of the preschool graduation crowd. (She was there to sing a few songs for half of her classmates who were moving on to Kindergarten next year.)

One thing I took note of was that out of all the families I saw today, only one person was smoking in our presence. Even then, it was in the parking lot after the event had ended. It really goes to show how much attitudes about smoking have changed over the years. Could it be the crowd I'm associated with these days? Possibly.

I'm heading to the UMDF Symposium again in about a month. This year we are in Washington DC. The hotel there is smoke-free, as is just about everything else that is in the public domain. Today, I am not bothered by the prospect of going away as being a temptation to smoke. What would be waiting for me when I got home would be the nicotine withdrawl, which I would rather do without.

Just over 1 in 5 American adults is a cigarettte smoker. Definitely a dying breed. I don't know anyone in my family who smokes.

I still have two smokers in my family and my other half has so many I can't count, the south is still holding tight to those smokes, but there new laws going into effect here too, that will make it just about impossible to smoke i public anywhere.....yeah

I was the only smoker in my family. I'm so glad I quit. Family functions are so much better now that I don't have to sneak away to smoke. Smoking is no longer the "Kool" thing to do.

I remember all the planning involved with being a smoker. Keeping everything together and organized is much easier these days without adding smoke breaks to the mix.
