Making it to 30 days...what it feels like.

It feels absolutely amazing to have made it 32 days smoke free. I'm so proud of myself. It's an awesome accomplishment. I guess I sound smug sometimes but I find praising myself keeps me going. Recognizing what a huge accomplishment it has been keeps me strong and I'm going to do whatever it takes to stay strong. It really hasn't been all that difficult. You just have to keep telling yourself, "I'm not going to smoke today." Then tell yourself that every day. I think the most difficult thing has been to learn what its like to live as a non smoker. It doesn't seem like I've ever been one because I've been smoking so long...30yrs. I'm trying to remember that you become what you practice most. I'm not "practicing" quitting but I am kind of practicing life as a non smoker. Let me tell you if u haven't figured it out yet....it was a LOT harder being a smoker! I've found myself being one of those obnoxious ex smokers and found out that wasn't making me any friends (or keeping the ones I have). I don't want to be "one of those ex's" but I will do and think (not always out loud) whatever it takes to help me keep my quit.

I'm so much happier as a non smoker. No longer waiting until I can go smoke again. No longer hiding the fact that I smoke. Hanging outside beside the dump smoking (what an oxymoron that is!) but yes, our work smoking area was beside the dumpster. That's where they put us u know....social outcast no more. Did u hear that? I said WAS beside the dumpster. I'm a non smoker! I'm putting it in the past in my mind and that's awesome.

I think the most amazing thing about the quit counters is the number of cigarettes we smoke. Mine says 800 cigs not smoked in 32 days. It's hard to fathom that in 32 days I would have put that many cigs in my lungs! But something was going on......because I'm no longer coughing up a lung! I'm healthy and taking this to another level and exercising. I'm probably the healthiest I've ever been! I'm going for one of those extreme body/mind makeovers and it's a lot cheaper than being a smoker and has much greater rewards.

Thank you all for your support. REading your blogs and posts have been an inspiration to me.
