MORNING of DAY 7 : Completing week one

Today I woke up with an intense urge to smoke. I needed to sign on to this site to remember what I and many others are accomplishing everyday we dont smoke. I'm chewing the nicorette relgiously. I feel better specifically in the chest region since i quit. My mind keeps telling me to go ahead and smoke one to get that feel good feeling but i know I would hate myself for it. I will be back on later to celebrate my accomplishment of week 1. If anyone reads this, what is something i can do to celebrate the completion of my first week?

Singing loud and crazy dancing is always a good way to celebrate!

What do you like to do?  One of my friends here and I have decided that we are going to make an appointment on a goal date for something nice for ourselves.  I've got 38 days and am going to make an appointment today for a massage on my 60 day mark.  She is going to make an appointment for her milestone date to get a manicure or pedicure...something like that.  Now, I realize this is girlie stuff, but I'm sure there's something you would like to do that you normally wouldn't splurge on??  I put the $$ I don't spend every day into a jar and then give my self a present on a goal date.  Just some thoughts  🙂

Go visit an elderly family member you haven't seen in a while.  It will not only make their day, but it will make yours.

Go to a movie you would like to see and relish not having a cancer stick!

I think you need to do something that you enjoy.  We are all different and what works for one may not work for the other.  Day 7.  Congratulations!  What a milestone.  When I get to day 7, I'm going hiking in the freezing weather so I can take in all the fresh air and breath!!!!  I love hiking.  You may enjoy something more relaxing but whatever the choice I hope it helps with detox.

I prefer patches over gum and am on day 2 using the patches.  From a dentist recommendation, I'm chewing trident sugarless.  It helps to whiten teeth, keeps me from grabbing for food and I enjoy the fresh breath taste.

Take a nap

Go out for a nice diner or stay home and make a nice meal.

Buy a CD you would like.

Or best of all- look in the mirror and be proud

Do anything that make you smile. Find something that give you that feeling good high. A week is awesome. The days will really start adding up. Great Job

Hi.  Today is Day # 7 for me as well and am finding ways to cope w/ the trigger points by talking on the phone in the car, drinking LOTS of water, etc..  I am also taking Chantix and keeping very busy.  I get major urges every now & then but they go away within seconds, and I just keep reminding myself that I CANNOT go back to them this time, and I just keep reminding myself of all the reasons I quit!  The benefits of quitting far outweigh smoking.  Hang in there and stay busy to keep your mind off of it.

Today is day 7 for me as well.  I've been chewing two pieces of nicorette each day.  I just had a craving and came here which helped me.  I haven't thought about rewarding myself though, a lot of good ideas up there.  I'll have to do something.

Anyway, I don't know about all of you, but my cravings get easier to deal with every day.  Day 3&4 sucked really bad for me and I was in line at the store to buy a pack the other day but the guy in front of me stunk so bad from cigs that I couldn't do it, thank God.

Definitely reward, reward, reward yourself! We all need extra motivation at times and some good incentives to keep going.  I'm on day four and wasn't sure I was going to make it yesterday.  I work at a really stressful job at times and while running late to work forgot to put on my patch for the day which was a big mistake.  But today's a new day and I've got the patch on again and managing really well so far.  My plan for my 1 week reward is something simple and cheap (since I still can't afford to spend a lot on something really nice, but that's not the point).  I think rewards for week 1, week 2 and week 4 should be enjoyed. Then I'll probably space them out a little more but it's getting through the first few weeks that's the hardest, so make sure you do something good for yourself.

Hi Everyone,

Reading the support from all of you has been such a great motivator to continue quitting. Thank you all for being there and your feedback. Keep it up!
