MONDAY MORNING BREAK TIME

I am on day three of my quit and my first day at work as a non-smoker. It is 10:00am and my usual morning break time. I am chewing on a coffee stirer and hanging on by my fingernails. I will not break down and smoke. It was a really hard weekend and I do not want to have to repeat that one. This sucks!

I made it past the break time. I am afraid if I leave the building and go for a walk like you suggested Kelli I would have to pass all the smokers on the wall outside...of which I used to be one too. But I think I will try that this afternoon just to get away from my desk for a bit so this does not feel like a punishment instead of the victory it is.

My main smoking buddy at work quit 2 weeks ago and the other smoker is out sick today. Several co-workers have gone on walks with me. The recently quit co-worker made us do several sizeable hills. I kept up just fine I am happy to say 🙂
Thank goodness for all of you to give me the support I need today!

Cool. It's good to hear that some ex-smoking co-workers have taken you under their wing.

That strikes me as an under-utilized resource. Everyone who has ever quit knows what those first few days are like.

Sometimes it feels like we must be the only ones ever to suffer like this. It helps to know that others have been there!

Jules: you sound like you are doing great. Every time you make it through a crave, you not only hone your coping skills, but you also take some power out of the nicotine addiction and the craves. It's hard to see it in Day 3, but get through today and you'll probably start to see little improvements day by day. Day 2 and Day 3 are usually the peak crave days.

Thanks HWC. As always good advice. Not doing that great at the moment but I always have more afternoon breaks then I am alloted and my brain keeps telling me it is time to go out on break. I am not giving in though! I remember the last time I quit I was so emotional and so short tempered with everyone. I am not having much of that this time. I am having fun at work with my co-workers and the emotional stuff has been mostly at night. After losing my significan other last year I am finding that there is nothing that will ever compare to that emotionally and this is very easy by comparison. Keeping my eyes on the end goal...I am not a smoker anymore 🙂
