Loser

The only loser is one who stops short of the finish line. I haven't quit quitting yet. I find out what works, what doesn't work, and go on from there. Now, I realize that I didn't put enough reliance on my Higher Power, God. Instead, I gave the cigarette urges the power over me. They were more powerful to me than anything: more powerful than Chantix, than my readings, than the sites I visited, than my knowledge, than my hollow prayers, than my strong will gone weak! This time I dare them to fight against God. I'm stepping aside and let the crazy thoughts go screaming past me. I sometimes remember to relate cigars/cigarettes to the alcoholic drinks I already gave up with God's help 17 years ago. I'm not getting into a fight with my urges. I either ignore them or give in to them. I'll let them have their short viscious lives (five to six minutes, they say)...and concentrate on something pleasant.

Welcome to the site! Congrats on deciding to quit! You are in the right place! You are right about losers too - I really like this quote -

"Life’s real failure is when you do not realize how close you were to success when you gave up."

Not getting into a fight with urges is very smart. Recognize them for what they are - don't try to fight - or to run - see it and move on. Please check out some reading which has helped many of us here: the free course at: http://quitsmokingonline.com/ and Allen Carr's book - "The Easy Way To Stop Smoking" - free download - http://joga.365.lt/Allen-Carr_Easy-Way-To-Stop-Smoking_Download-free-PDF-EBook

Stick around - read, read, read - keep blogging! Again - again - welcome!

You are in a good place for help and friend's, support. I quit on July 14th 2011. I thought I would never be able to quit, I've tryed 3-4 time's really hard. This place helped me so much. But, it's still very hard. You have to really want to quit. You can alway's find a reason to smoke, or I could. But, not any more ! I'm here, if you need to talk, or vent. YOU CAN DO IT !!! Joy

I don't like the term "loser".  I think losers just haven't yet let themselves win.  I am glad you are not giving up, and I am glad you are going to let God have a big part of your quit.  Remember that, to God, you are 100 % acceptable as a smoker.  His love is not dependant or whether or not you quit smoking.  But if you decide to quit, He will be with you in your journey to be what He intended, and that is FREE from whatever holds you back, keeps you in shame and fear, and smoking sure fits in that description.  Bless you and welcome.
