Letter of encouragement...

My daughter has noticed me on this website a lot lately (and I'm not a web-surfing type) and realized it was for support to quit smoking. So today was a little rough for me, with the pack of cigarettes at work...(THANKS FOR THE FANTASTIC SUPPORT GROUP!) but I made it through.

When I arrived home, my daughter had left me a letter, and it is so sweet, I had to share.

Dear Mom,
This is a letter of encouragement for you. Your doing great, you get better everyday. One day your going to be free of smoking. I'm clapping my hands for you for three reasons: for trying, for not giving up, for being my non-smoking mom.

That kicks cravings @ss.

Jen, That is such wonderful news. I am sure you were thrilled to read the note. How very thoughtful of your daughter to do that.
It is amazing to still have our children look up to us and to be proud of what we have accomplished. I know that it made you feel great.
I just came from my daugthers and she, her husband and my granddaughters are so proud of me and kept telling me so.......it makes it so worth wile in the end.
You are not just giving up a terrible habit, but you will be here longer with your loved ones!!!!
Congrats!!! Before you know it it will be 1 week!

Jen:

That is so cool. I think there are moments in every quit that make the difference between success and failure. You had two in one day:

a) Your decisive move to get rid of those cigarettes at work. That's the difference between quitting and no quitting right there. A lot of people end up smoking those cigarettes. You didn't.

b) The kind of motivation that your daughter's letter provides just when you need it. Mine was a senior in college when I was quitting. She was the first person I told, just a day or two into my quit. I'll never forget talking to her again about a week into it when she said, "I'm so proud of you for quitting, Dad". It was very motivating.
