I quit 1-6-11 (17 days ago!). I know I am physically over the addiction, but still have very strong urges to smoke. I have had at least 3 dreams of giving in to the temptation, and feel so guilty in the dreams!! Anyone else have those kind of dreams?

WOW! First of all I'd like to congratulate you on your quit. Way to go!!!  Second, yes smoking dreams are very common.  Keep reading the blogs and asking questions. You're doing great - keep it up!

Everyone has smoking dreams now and again.. I hit a year of being smoke free today, and ive had a smoking dream within the last month or two id say.. Im not sure they EVER go away. Smoking was a huge part of our lives for a long time. That doesnt just go away because we stop smoking. Our inner minds remember. The trick is to also remember that its all a mind-game. Youre so much stronger than some little addiciton thats all in your head.. YOU CAN DO THIS!! Just take a deep breath and pass the urges right on by.. they dont have the power to alter your behavior any more! Congratulations on your Quit!

Dreams are quite common when you quit smoking. I know the feeling all to well of thinking you just blown your quit only to wake up and find out it was all a dream. Keep up the good work and stay smoke free. Come on here for support and ask questions if need be. We all want to help each other stay smoke free.

Thank you so much for your quick and helpful responses!  I definitely need this support system, as I have been feeling all alone in this quit.  My daughter used to be my cheerleader, but she is away at college now.  I'm on my own.....totally doing this by myself, and for myself.  Cold turkey!!

Welcome!!! I agree - nothing out of the ordinary that you are feeling. No reason to feel guilty at all! On the contrary; 17 days - wow! Keep it up!! You'll be amazed at the difference just one more week will make.... Keep trucking!
