Just Wondering

Since my slip on Tuesday, 5/26, I got back up and went on with quitting. I have been using the patch. What I am wondering, is....yesterday and today I woke up with such a sense of calm. The craves have been manageable. Today, I did not put a patch on, and felt that I could manage the craves that I had (today is day 6). Has anyone else had this happen? I am not getting overconfident, because I do not want to sabotage myself. I am just curious if this is the calm before the storm on Day 7.

Any advice that I can get to try to keep this feeling of serenity going would be greatly appreciated.

I quit cold turkey, honestly I woke up smoked the first on eof the day and about half way through; I said,"I really do not like the way this tastes and put it out." I hit taht point where I knew I was done and this was my quit. I felt a way i never had before. From what you said it sounds like your in the same place. CONGRATS!! KEEP it UP !! STAY STRONG!!

Every quit is individual - I hate to tell you but I had a terrible day 7 !!!! But hang on!!!!!! others did not they unlike you had a bad day 6 it effects us different ways - BUT there is but one rule - not one puff - none what so ever - at day six you are now a non smoker - fantastic !!!!!!- NOW Francine you do what ever it takes for YOU to stay that way - use the patches again if need be - take deep breathes - yoga - blog on here- run naked through McDonalds shouting "I am in LOVE with a Big Mac!" - whatever

Hi Francine remember that the patches continue their effect for hours after they are removed, so that might be part of the reason, for me I felt better without them, but that was me and every person is different, do whatever you need to, to keep that quit and Congrats at getting right back in there:)

Better yet! Run naked through Burger King shouting "I am in LOVE with a Big Mac!" haha
Seriously, just go with your quit. You've already commited to quitting which is a huge step and you feel the quit. Just go with it and all the cravings and crazy feelings you get, just accept it as making progress in the quit. There for a while, I was relapsing on every 3rd day. I had that calm on every day 2... you know where you think, I should be craving and going mad but I feel ok. I CAN DO THIS! And then Day 3 hits you like a ton of bricks. lol You are already past your day 3, I am just telling you that everyday will be different. Just remember to embrace the quit and withdrawl and use this site to get through it all. Whoo! You're doing great!

I am just hanging in there right now. I was thinking that the might be acceptance phase of my quit. I feel like this is my "Aha" moment. I am definately not taking it for granted, though.

Thanks, everyone!! I appreciate the responses, and I especially appreciate that I always feel good when I come here.

For me day 7-14 were harder than day 1-6
I think I psyched myself up to quit and it carried through a couple of days

Just take it one day at a time... dont let the thoughts of never smoking again break you down
I just said... maybe tomorrow I smoke... but TODAY I DONT

Its been 211 days... I dont think about it much anymore... maybe once a week??/

I had good days and bad days, but I felt pretty calm about not smoking most of the time from about day three on. That's not to say that I didn't have my moments, but I don't feel like I ever came very close to smoking. For example, I never got in the car to go buy cigarettes.

My advice to keep your quit going is to double down on education. It really, really helps:
