Share your quitting journey
Well, I am now entering my middle fifty's and have decided it is time for me to quit smoking again. Have three daughters and four grandchildren that need me plus a very wonderful man in my life so, I want to be around for all of them. We have recently found out that a mutual friend of ours has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I do not believe she is going to live much longer as she is still smoking. My brain tells me "don't end up like her" however, my body still craves the nasty cigarettes. And like others I've read stories about, so many things I do are associated with smoking. I pray that God can give me the strength to quit for good this time and do it forever. Want to be around to see my grandchildren growing up and not be on a breathing machine doing it! The last time when quittig had gotten very ill with bronchitis and couldn't even inhale a cigarette although God knows just had to try that once - did ended up quitting then only to start back up again five years later - like a dummy. This time is different. Sure do like the pleasure of a cig after a meal and other things. It's such a nasty, dirty, filthy, smelly habit and can see people when they walk by; that they smell the cigarette smoke on me. They can't help but do that. I remember that from quitting before and when smelling it on other people it would really make me sick. Food tasted much better after quitting too. So, have been on this computer all night long which is a smoking trigger for me however, haven't had a cigarette in hour so, am going to give myself points and kuddos for that:) This morning on someone's comment back to another EX smoker they mentioned the words "Quit & Stick" to your committment to yourself of doing that. Just like when I quit drinking am doing this one minute at a time and keeping it simple.
