Hello all, just joined yesterday.  I've smoked since I was 19, 56 now.  Quit for 14 years and started up again...doh!.

I've set Sept 1st as my quit day.   i may move that up a few weeks if I'm ready.

I have one question.....do I get extra badges for having two messages from vickie wanting to meet me...sheesh.

I will keep telling my self that quitting smoking is easy I've done it a thousand times.

Kudos to those that have quit and my thoughts for success for those that want to....

As the three stooges say " At first you don't succeed keep sucing tell you do"

kudos? is that like a kick in the udos?

it's much better to quit than to keep trying.

if you're ready to learn what it takes to hold onto it and where the journey will take you

you're in the right place

I just joined on Friday and quit smoking for probably the hundreth time yesterday at 4pm.  You made a good decision in joining this site.  I've already found it very helpful.  Lots of good folks here full of lots of good information and wonderful stories.  Good luck to you and I hope you find what you need here.

Hi Will and welcome to Ex!

The most IMPORTANT thing you can do for your quit now is to educate yourself about the addiction and the mind games it plays on us....READ,READ,READ for a successful quit...the more you read, the EASIER it is...

CHOOSE to quit smoking, not try. Educate yourself by reading these links to the materials that most of us have used to help us quit and STAY quit! This is about making a DECISION to never put another cigarette in your mouth, mean it, and be committed to follow through on that decision. Also allow NO excuses AND hang in there for as long as it takes, no matter how uncomfortable you become.... This is about re-learning your life WITHOUT cigarettes....start changing your "normal" routine....because a smoker's routine revolves around cigarettes. You will be a nonsmoker so change how you start your morning so it doesn't revolve around cigarette breaks, etc. You CAN do this! ....http://digg.com/newsbar/topnews/Allen_Carr_s_Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking_Download_free_PDF

Hey, we might be twins!! Except you are 4 years older than me!! I joined yesterday, too. I was 18 when I started smoking. At 36 years old I stopped for 12 years, then like a fool I started up again about 4 years ago. I want to quit, I am scared, no doubt about that.. but I want to be done with it.  and that Vicki... she came after me too (twice) LOL...

Welcome and congrats! You are in the right place! Be sure to check out the things Nancy gave you. You can do this! I came here two years ago, after smoking for 40 years, and I did the reading, hung out here for support - and I did it!! you can too!
