Jerk Alert

Good evening everyone, I hope everyone is enjoying a smoke-free day, not being hidden behind a cloud of toxic smoke. Well my friends, I am doing good so far, However I do have a very important question/ observation; Why is it that when you quit smoking EVERY JERK in the world seems to be hovering around you???? It is just so frustrating to say the least *lol*. I will be honest, these past two days have been so challenging. I so badly wanted to smoke last night, in fact my neighbor thinking they were trying to help gave me some cigarettes, I threw them back and said NO. The whole time my body and mind were saying " are you crazy???? YES, YES ,YES".. By the power and strength of God I was able to resist. Trigger: My rude, disrespectful son who knows how to break my heart and push every button I have. "TEE HEE", He can't find the start smoking again button.....At least not this time. I do hope all of you have your start smoking again button hid well, and May Our Lord give you strength, Peace and comfort as you battle this addiction one day at a time. And as far as those jerks go, I have a electric fly swatter a friend gave me a a gag gift * um, thinking*, just a swat or two......

Keep Strong, Be Brave, Love Yourself....

Aaaahhhh, I can relate......my mother and I have a very very difficult relationship, we always have, so I decided to get through the first 2 weeks of quitting smoking while she is out of the country. We don't enjoy hurting each other, but I could relate to every word of "knows how to break my heart and push every button I have". But soooo glad to see you say that he can't find the start smoking again button 🙂 Today is my Day 1, and I had to drive my mom to the airport. And even in that 45 minutes I could feel myself breaking when she started going off. Where everything in my body was like "Where is it? Come on, light it up already". And it was raining, and every sucker out there was driving like an idiot. I just breathed, stayed calm, and dropped her off. Then I get back to work, and my colleague who knew I am quitting offered me a cigarette. Again, everything in me was like "Thank God, finally", but I just said "No thanks, I'm good" and walked away. Now I'm on this site, and I am fighting. I will fight. You keep it up too, it's worth it. 🙂

i can definitely relate to the situations... Today is my 1st day, as well and as soon as I got home my neighbor acted like a complete jerk because my dogs we're outside barking. He really annoyed me by his actions so when the argument ended, I just wanted to go to the store and buy a pack of cigarettes. I had to breathe for sometime and relax then I thought about it and said it's not worth it. I started thinking about why I chose to quit and the urge started going away. You guys keep it up! 🙂

I have been quit over 10 months, the jerks still seem to find their way to me!  I deal with them at work...I have one of those flyswatters too...hmmmm.  Just thinking.

LOL...I think there are jerks around all the time; we just notice them more since there is no smoke in the way 🙂

It does get easier with time, stay strong, hold on to your convictions & most important Don't Give In!

You can do this  -   You are not alone   -  We are here with you

I'm not here as often as I once was, but I can tell you that this is one of the best places for support & that there is always someone on site.   Education is  a key element in keeping your quit, the more you know the more prepared you are.  Congratulations on your Quit!

I agree with sander! The jerks are easier to spot now that the air around us has cleared!

On a side note, have you ever tried the electric fly swatter? I did. once (:P) It only hurts a little! But it's a good thing to warn people with!

Protect your quit! And ignore the jerks! 🙂

Thank you all for your encouraging words, I still am smoke free and can hardly believe myself after the past week that I did not cave in. really not a choice at this point. I will be very grateful when it gets a little easier, which I know willl happen.  I still carry my electric fly swatter and I am not afraid to use it *s*... Never thought about now that I am not consumed in a cloud of toxic smoke I can see the jerks clearer. But that is ok, it is free entertainment. Staying strong and fighting for my life, one prayer at a time.
