I JUST QUIT AGAIN ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO. I AM FEELING VERY DEPRESSED AND HOPELESS RIGHT NOW AND I DONT KNOW WHY. I KNOW I DONT POST ENOUGH ON MY BLOG FOR ANY REAL HELP FROM HERE BECAUSE IT IS HARD FOR ME TO TELL ANYONE WHAT I AM FEELING. I REALLY NEED TO DO IT RIGHT THIS TIME AND AM GOING TO BE PUSHING MYSELF TO BLOG MORE AND LISTEN TO THE OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS BEFORE. I WANT TO THANK ALL THE WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HAVE TRIED TO HELP ME IN THE PAST BUT DUE TO MY STUPIDITY I HAVE NOT LISTENED TO THEM AND I AM SORRY FOR THAT.

You are not stupid.....you are addicted!       Read/Blog/Listen to the Elders and the Wise Ones.         Don't think you can do this without being educated!       So many of us tried this on our own with no information.      The reason that I am at the day I am today is that I learned about nicotine addiction and how the others that walked a head of me did it.

A HUGE help for me is to make a daily promise to not smoke for just 1 day.     Come and try that with a group of us that have found this to help.

Blogging is good as well as the suggestions above. Opening up to people and letting go of whats inside of you, will make you feel better. You will realize there is always somebody here that has went through the same thing or almost the same thing and can offer help. Help is only a click away.

I believe the feelings you are having this morning are loss.  You will grieve the loss of cigarettes like a death.  I did.  Like Dale says "The only way out is through."  Be kind and gentle with yourself.  You must commit to your quit.  I told myself that whatever the problem is in my life the answer will not be a cigarette.  I love being a non-smoker.  I was a die-hard smoker for 52 years.  You can do this and it will eventually be better than you ever imagined.  You just have some hard work to do first.  God bless you and stay real close to this site.  We are here for you.

Don't despair.  The first thing you need to accept is that you are a nicotine addict.  All of us, I think, were terrified until we understood what was happening to our bodies and mind when we smoked.  Knowledge is a powerful thing!

The most important thing you can do right now is to educate yourself on what nicotine does to your body and mind. To that end, I highly recommend Allen Carr's “The Easy Way to Stop Smoking.” This is an easy and entertaining read. Here is a link to a free PDF version of it:

As well, read the sections on this site, and read the blogs, responses and pages of folks you think might be helpful. As well, you might visit whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com.

Remember to distract yourself when you have a crave. Take slow, deep breaths, go for a walk, let ice cubes melt in your mouth. Some folks have been successful “surfing” the crave, knowing it only will last about three minutes.

You made the decision to quit. Now HONOR it. Don't argue with yourself, because you simply don't DO that anymore!

Stay close to us here; ask questions as you have them and for support when you need it. We will be with you every step of the way.

Stupid is absolutely the wrong word...you are grieving an abusive and monstrous "friend" you had in your life.  I can add nothing to what has already been said by the people here...read Dale's page, LISTEN to the elders, BLOG regularly, read everything you possibly can about addiction, HONOR your own commitment, it is to yourself, not to us.

No one can quit for you and no one can smoke for you either.

Best, Ellen

How are things going? I slipped, too, but I am determined to STOP this cycle! You can do this, too. I will keep you updated on my progress...My quit date is on August 18th after I finish up a family event that will not be pleasant...
