It's been a week

So far so good! I was very scared about Chantix and I'm pleased to announce that I haven't really had that many issues with it; Nothing that would make me reconsider taking it anyhow. I have nausea about 20 minutes after taking the pill and that lasts for only a couple minutes. I breathe through it very deeply... like yoga breathing... and then it passes. After the nausea passes I'm normally fine, chipper and active. Starting the full dosage blue pills was slightly different... the nausea lasted longer and suddenly I was TIRED... super sleepy... but... we'll see how the week goes! I've been in many situations already in which I'd normally smoke or normally think would have been hard to overcome. This past weekend I went out camping with my family and one of the campers set up a karaoke system. EVERYONE was drinking and/or smoking, neither of which I can do... so I picked up a six pack of coke and tossed them into the cooler and threatened the lives of those that might take one!!! I did just fine! I had a lot of fun and sang really well... its amazing how much easier singing is for me now that I don't smoke. I can actually say that too... I DON'T SMOKE!!! Chantix really really has helped me tremendously so far. I honestly have no desire to smoke with it. I don't care when others are smoking. I don't think about smoking that much. In fact, one of the reasons I haven't updated daily like I initially said I would is because I'm just not thinking about it... I'm not thinking about smoking or not smoking... I'm just busy with other things... The medicine is pretty rough and I've got several family members on the lookout to make sure that if I have noticable mood swings or depression that they alert my doctor and me. Other than that, I'm still positive and smoke free!!! Happy Day!

I have nothing but admiration for anyone who can quit with Chantix. I couldn't do it. I could handle quitting smoking, but not if I had to puke twice a day on top of nicotine withdrawal.

Hooray!!!!!! A whole week and a trip!!! I am very impressed. You are making me  rethink my refusal of my doctor's offer of Chantix. 🙂 Other people here, especially women, have done well on a lower dose without the side effects.

One week is called Glory Week because it's such a huge accomplishment. You now know that you can really "git 'er done". Just keep on workin' it, day by day.

Uber Congrats! I also planned to update everyday but not thinking about smoking everyday I skipped it. I've been much more focused on nutrition the past week, I've read about skinny bitch - it's a bit too chick-lit for me, judging by the cover. I've started on 'The Thrive Diet' by Brendan Brazier (Iron-Man/Triathlete), which is a great book and diet but pretty intense. I'm kinda in a rush to reverse all the years of smoking damage. I'm giving up coffee tomorrow and it's much more unpleasant than the thought of giving up smoking. I also bought a cookbook book called 'Vegan Cupcakes take over the world' which is pretty cute but doesn't fit in with my new, mostly raw, diet so is a gift for a friend.

hehehe... yeah... the book is a bit chick lit, but.... it is good... I like the recipe book and I decided to look into the 21 day vegan startup thing on facebook and am surprised that they are now saying oils are bad for you... like olive oil and stuff... at any rate, I'm researching more into that at the moment, but it's exciting... starting all of this... good luck to you as well!
