and thus my warning to all those five momths into their quits or less.  Alcohol is a proven quit killer, so don't imbibe.  You have the rest of your longer life to enjoy that.

You have been warned!

Thank you Nancy! I am in day 3 of my quit and my first thought was"I can't wait until after work to have a glass of wine after this stressful week". I have to pass on 2 events this weekend due to me now thinking that it might be too hard for me to go and not drink or smoke. I am sad to miss a good time with good people, but I don't want to do anything to jeopardize my quit so soon. There will be plenty of events right?

This is good for me,  since I'm a recovering alcoholic . drinking is definitely not a good idea if you're quitting smoking, stay clear of the booze to save your quit . Let's have a smoke free wk end.

Couldn't agree more! It's been 32 days since I quit smoking and last night had friends over for a wine and snacks ... And after they left ALL I THOUGHT ABOUT was smoking and couldn't I just run to the store so easily and buy a pack and then toss them in the morning... So ridiculous the thoughts.  I woke up so grumpy and pissed off at myself that I came so close to smoking again.

So... In a nutshell... I agree alcohol is a quit killer!

About the Author
I smoked until a vascular surgeon informed me of the damage I had done to myself by doing so. I quit 11 years ago, and I can swim laps virtually FOREVER now, walk most other days 40 minutes to an hour and a half. What a difference quitting has made in my life! I strive to help others find this wonderful freedom from addiction, too.
