So tomorrow is my set quit date! Good for me...I am nervous as can be, twenty years of smoking, but I am trying to welcome the anxiety b/c I know it will be a new healthier me. Any advice would be greatly appericated 🙂
Go to whyquit.com/day 1 for the best advice I've ever seen about how to handle the first 24 hours. Pledge to yourself that you will not smoke even one little puff for the next 24 hours NO MATTER WHAT! Drink LOTS of water! Drink cranberry juice and cut your caffeine in half1 Come here and Blog all day if you have to!
I spent all my free time the first few days reading. It really helped. However, I am disabled so virtually all my time is free time. Just squeeze in all the reading you can.
I am with Thomas too. Here's the direct link to WhyQuit's Daily Quitting Lesson Guide: http://whyquit.com/joel/dayzero.htm. There's a lot of good info in the videos there.
The above are correct, just keep moving forward no matter whatyou experience. Once you put out that last cigarette you are a non smoker, but you still have to get the nicotine out of your body and you still have to start learning to live with out smoking. Remember it is a process, it is a journey and the only way to reach your distination is to keep moving forward without the possibility of ever turning back. You can do this, CONGRATULATIONS on making the best decision of your life. Water, juice, read, learn, blog here as often as you can. We are here and we want you to succeed.
