Deal All,

I was on the edge of relapse on the 8th day, but somehow managed.

Today is my 11th day. Cravings are less now. Once in a while I remember my smoking sessions. Basically it happens when I complete certain tasks, which I had linked to smoking. But I have confidence now. Hope that I will grow stronger in my confidence as days goes by.

If I succeed another 11 days, then I will have a new year as ex smoker. With nicotine free blood after 28 years!!1 If I manage to another 4 days, then I will have a really Merry Christmas.

I take this opportunity to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy New year.

Great job on your quit! Cravings sneak up once in awhile.... Yesterday i was on day 39, had a disagreement with my daughter and wanted to smoke. I tought about the effort it would require to go out and buy smokes and a lighter and for what? I let it pass and continued on my journey. Hold your head up high and be proud of your commitment. You can do this and you already are.

Have a great day!

You can do it. Those cravings will come. You tell the cravings to take a hike :). One day at a time. The cravings will pass. Just list the reasons in your head every time you feel the craving taking over. Read. Carry something in your pocket. Remember why you are taking this journey!

Merry Christmas to you and have a wonderful, smoke free, smell good day!

The first two-three weeks are the most uncomfortable.  You are getting there!  One day at a time  - sometimes one hour, one morning/afternoon/evening - but they add up to days and days to weeks and pretty soon it starts to be easier and easier.

It is SO worth the effort - I promise!

Hi Murali and welcome. I like your thinking. Smoke free for Christmas and New Years is an excellent goal and very doable.

Just take it one day at a time and you will continue to stack up your days. Distraction is the key to beating back the cravings. They only last a few minutes then they go away. Each time they return you are a little stronger to deal with them. Its does get easier, I promise.

You can do this. I believe in you!

The confidence is in your head ..... instead of saying "if" I do this, tell yourself "when" I do this.... no one can make you smoke... except you.

There are many things you can do to help but in the end... it is all about what you really want to do ... i.e.  it is your choice.

Just understand that you can never, ever take even one puff ... it is that addictive... and none of us want to start all over again.  So you made it through the 8th day ... it will get better.
