Share your quitting journey

I've truly enjoyed my time here....but I'm going to take a bit of a break...

I'm smoking again, so I need to maybe do a lot of the reading that I didn't do....This site has supplied all of the info I could/should possibly have needed....so I'm lost as to why I'm so lost with quitting....my husband and I had a really good talk about my quit tonight, and I feel positive about that...

I looked back over my old blogs late last night, and you know, I don't think I really ever had a good handle on these past few quits....some good, strong moments but in re-reading them, there was a lot of doubt in what I was saying too....a lot of 'right on the brink' wording....

I've decided that I'm just going to hang-out in the shadows for a bit....I will still visit, but a lot less....

But I do want to say thanks for everything....I did have a couple of good runs here, and that shows me that I can....it's the maintaining, or even having a good foothold from the beginning that I'm missing....I have, whether I consciously knew or not....left the door open that leads to smoking....and I always walk back thru it....

If nothing else, I hope somebody else learns from this....and doesn't throw away their quit....ever!

it doesn't take any work at all to be a smoker. you just have to be a slave and be willing to give it every  thing you got!

While you are doing the reading try googling addiction enabler. Is hubby a smoker?

Hate to see you giving up even if it's only for a bit.

But have you gone to whyquit.com and quitsmokingonline.com?

Have you read and read and read and read???

Why not?

Why are you giving up on you?

Are you not worth that bit of effort?  The effort to read and read and read and read and let the process happen?

This is so hard to do and I'm sure this craving will always be there. I wish I listened to my mother and neve started. I bet a lot of us do but now here we are with a desicion to make. Is smoking worth shortening our lives? I hope you decide to try again. I just started my mission and would love all the help I can get!

OK.... you are addicted.. you know that and think you don't want to quit or that you can't quit.  That is not true but you think it is true so that is your reality.  While you are taking a break i.e. smoking.... spend some time reading, researching and preparing to quit.  I just started reading a book about change... some reaserch about how we change .. from smoking to eating to weight loss to behaviors.  Spend two weeks preparing ... and plan on at least 90 days of changing a  habit.   Just because you did not suceed.. does not mean that you can't.

It is no different than tinker bell ..... you have to BELIEVE!

Take some time but do not give up on yourself! Do not let this keep going until you are sick and have no choice other than quit. You can do this, do some reading, make a new plan and start over. You deserve to be free! Love and hugs to you!

How long will it take you to do the reading. Make a plan - you can read that course at http://quitsmokingonline.com/ and Carr's book in a week. By leaving you are saying you are giving up..... Don't do that! Set an amount of time to do the reading ( not "maybe" you will do - just do it!). The reason you are lost (IMHO) is because you do not understand this addiction. Do it!

Hello Cheyenne---I don't think I have ever commented on a blog of yours so maybe you want to tell me to "push off"----but I just felt I had to say----why take a break from the site and from your quit? OK---I know, you smoked...then quit and smoked again. The secret to quitting isn't to keep smoking and leave the site. The secret is to put them down.......stay close to the site and realize....it WILL be tough. There WILL be some very rough days. There WILL be times when you are very tested.

Resolve NOW not to give in at those times or any others. Put those disgusting things down and don't leave the one place where you have support.

Just my thoughts......

Whatever you decide, we will ALWAYS have a place for you here and we will miss you if you go.

Stay Strong

To my dearest Cheyenne,

As you can see, I read your blog. This is not only sad to see, but it sounds to me a LOUD CRY for help. I am here!!! I am 52 days today. I need to know WHY you decided to quit either time. My Grandpa (Poppy) had quit over 20 years ago. He still gets cravings at times, but it does not bother him no more. THAT's RIGHT. Cravings DONT bother him no more. I want to see you walk with me on my quit.

Question- If you did drugs, would you leave to do them? Would you be alright if your children did just to continue to do so? Not to be mean but I need to actually be strong with you. I WILL not give up on you!!!!!!!!!!! You CANNOT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask yourself if you would allow your children?

Just like drugs, smoking is a mental addition. It has taken control of our lives and have been steering us all in the wrong direction. Act now to take control back over. I love you as so many of us does. You are a strong person and a wonderful woman. I know you have to work through this on your own right now. I will give you your time. Just know that I will check on you and I want to know how you are doing.

Please READ Dale's blogs. He and everyone else have been my saving grace here since my quit 52 days ago.

Many prayers sent to you. Asking God to show you some comfort and provide you the courage you desire and need.

Hope you get back here soon I can't imagine smoking right now for me it's been night and day since after around 100 days, out of NML has been good I think you just need more time off of them? Don't give up

I do not want you to leave! *sigh* But, I am not in control of that! You are! I am in control of my quit! And you in control of yours! When not smoking becomes more important than smoking you will quit! Or, when you are no longer physically or financially able to smoke! I hope you never reach that point! You see, everybody quits! Some people throw away their last pack! Sometimes the one we leave behind throw them away!

Get your head in the right place! Come back home, and lets travel this path, hand in hand! It is my opinion that the easiest way to stay quit is by helping someone else! "Collateral Kindness"! Helping yourself by helping others! What a way to quit! What a way to live!!

It you chose to go away, know that I will leave the light on every night until you return!

The link below is to a blog written by Thomas 209 days ago. At that time I was 24 days into my quit. I made a habit of saving in my "Quit File" any links that I could go back and read over and over.

Hope you will read it.
