I think I might move my quit date up!

My quit plan has been moving along pretty good, Infact in the last two weeks I have gone from the average smoker of 20 a day down to 10, then 8, and now 4!  My next is suppose to be 2 down to none, but I am actually finding that it just feels like waiting until my quit date of the 19th just feels like forever to me.  And if I were to move it up to the 14th or 15th not only would I be a non-smoker before the 19th, but the 3 days of withdrawls would be behind me as well!?  Not to mention that smoking only 4 a day is leaving me sick to my stomache after everyone!  Changing my plan seems like an ok plan to me...what do you think?

Hi Sheila.....I am certainly not an expert as I just got on the site the other day and planned to follow the plan....and then decided to try not smoking with my coffee three mornings ago and just didn't smoke after that small victory.  Believe me not breathing well , from having a lung infection right now is very motivating.  I think changing your plan to move your quit date is O.K..  I am sure some of the "old timers" will give you advice that comes from experience and prior knowledge.  I would like to add you as a friend if that is O.K. since we are starting together?

i never believed in cutting down to 0.

it's like a sure fire downer because its like going through the first three days without any until you actually

go through those three days.

if you're ready in your heady, and want to start whole heart?

get your mouth off those butts and take it apart!

Hi Shelia I think you will get some good input concerning this. I dont know so i wont give any advice but will add that to do what you have done takes great determination. I would think you are in withdrawl mode at all times. Anyways I have read this is one of the more successful methoods of quitting however so few are able to do it this way because it is so difficult. Welcome to our community, You will be a great quitter.

I followed a plan similar to yours I cut back from 25 cigs per day to 2-3, over a period of about 5 weeks.  I did not set a specific quit date becasue that caused me all kinds of anxiety. I decided I was going to trust myself to know the right time.  And that's exactly how it happened-one day I smoked just 1 cig around noon and next morning realized I was almost 24 hours smoke free and decided I was done.  That was 364 days ago, btw*smiles*

You sem to have a plan that is working for you and if you feel its the right time to quit completely then go for it!   Sometimes playing games with your head and catching it off guard works very well...it did for me.

Hi Sheila,

I personally don't know how anyone could smoke such a small amount and feel like anything but crap.  For me, I was an all or nothing smoker.  When I tried to think about quitting or reducing the amount I smoked I always smoked much  more. It really sounds like you are ready to quit, today!  I went cold turkey then started looking online for other ex-smokers and support sites and did alot of research.  I didn't follow all of the recommended steps here and I'm doing just fine.  I have 47 days as an ex-smoker now with no desire to ever smoke again.

Plans are made to be changed 🙂  Lets do this!  You are ready!   Have a beautiful smoke free day 🙂

I say release yourself from the bondage now.  Then you can say you stopped cold turkey.  I quit before my quit date, because I ran out of cigarettes, and I was too cheap to buy a pack just to throw the rest away.  Once you put them down, please realize that it is over, gone, done with.  You will then be wise to protect your quit, no matter what happens in your life.  We are here if you need us!

Same here, I moved my date up a couple of days and did not regret it once.  The sooner you quit the sooner you will feel better.
