I quit

December 17th, 2010 I had ACL reconstructive surgery, a year later, I ran a 5K on my anniversary, and a year later I gave up a filthy habit, smoking... I had set my quit date to January 1st, 2013, but I was soon realizing that I was getting anxiety because the weekend after I would have to "hurry up and wait" as we Army folk say. And what do you do when you are waiting?? You smoke. it’s would have been extremely tough for me to face a military weekend just quitting and I’ve done it so many times and I didn’t want to give into my addiction.

I've been slowly cutting cigarettes out of my life since October, it started with my 10 minute ride to work, then my 9:30am smoke break, lunch break, and 2:30 break and my dreaded after work cigarette. I rarely smoked when I was home, and I smoked a lot when being social.

I smoked my last cigarette the day the packers beat the bears (December 16th,2012)! Go PACK GO! And Monday actually went by really fast.

I had some leftover lozenges from the last time I tried to quit and I’ve been using them up to counter my cravings.

I would have to say Wednesday was the hardest day I’ve ever had out of all the times I’ve attempted. But I beat it. I called the 1-800-quit now line  yesterday on my way home from work because I needed to talk to someone who was going to help me cut the craving, and the next thing I know I’m home, and I was fine.

It works, just call... and they will help you re-learn the drive home.

I’m picking up the patch and more lozenges this weekend.

Thank you for reading.
