You are on course. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal and part of the process. Can you take a walk, or march in place? Try to take slow, deep breaths when you feel the urge to scream! Or - go scream into or pound on a pillow! Explain to those around you that this is part of the adjustment to life without your drug...and it doesn't last forever...but it does for a bit. You should be patient and ask those who love you to do the same. It WILL end and you will be abck to yourself soon enough.
Actually we all get grumpy sometimes don't we , especially when you barely quit smoking . , if you know your mood is a bit dark just remind yourself and others to be patient. Mood swings are a not uncommon when we withdrawal from any bad habit.
It gets better , keep going , congratulations on 11 days
Just breath. In and out. Big deep breath in and slow out. Ahhh, I wish I could just be present and tell you that your going to be fine. The fact is though....this is hard. This quitting smoking business. So many emotions we now have to deal with as non-smokers.
your doing nothing wrong. You came here. Although my quit is over two years and I have not been in here for allooong time....I see why now it is important I hang around. To give the support and help in return as I was given when I quit. I am so sorry I didn't stay with this board after my quit, but I am here now and will help as much as I can because this truly is a worthwhile thing.
Quitting is painful, hard. I used to smoke my way through every negative emotion , feeling, dealing...you name it. It was my 'go to' whenever things got tuff. I never dreamed I could do without them.
i had to learn to feel again without the aide of smokes. Your going through now, but it WILL get better. You just keep reminding yourself that YOU are in control now and NOT the smokes.
i know this sounds weird, but I also used a lot of VIcks Vapor rub early in my quit. I put it under my nose and even on my Young at times. I even went as far as buying a Vicks inhaler . Worked like a charm...cravings gone STAT upon use.
You are doing Great. All is normal. You have been through Week 1 (Hell Week) and nearly through Week 2 (Heck Week). It does get easier. For now just hang in there. Try to distract any thoughts and urges by interrupting them. Change locations, drink water. walk, put favorite music or movie on, take a shower, anything, any distraction. Tell yourself NOPE, SINAO, even out loud. Just hang in there 1 day, 1 hour at a time til it gets easier...You can do this!!
Know that this too shall pass...punch a pillow, do jumping jacks, scream, do all of the things you can think of to get rid of the anger and tension....LAUGH!
We all went through it and we all know how hard it is. I tend to feel sorry for people who have to be around us in the beginning but it is well worth it to be healthier!
