I'm Done!

I just got back from Kansas, where I've been in graduate school on weekends for the last three years. I finished my last class on Sunday, so I am officially done!! On the drive back to Nebraska, I got to thinking. I feel like I am ready to take the next step in my life and quit smoking. My official quit date isn't until December 21, but I feel so good about finishing my degree that it gives me a big surge of motivation to become an ex-smoker. I am almost out of cigarettes, so why not go ahead and take the leap tomorrow morning? This feels like the right time, even though I'm a little nervous. I'm sure I will live on this site from now on, I know I can get all of the help I need here. Wish me luck!

girl, you do not need luck, you just need a good mind set, that nothing, nothing, nothing can stop you, get your plan together, get you some thing to snack on, sugarless, cany, gum, mints, and just be more stubborn than the craves, stay on here and get educated on this addiction, and you will win. any one who has the fortitude to go to school like you have, can do any thing . be strong !!!!!!!!!!!

Good for you! Congratulations! Quit whenever you are sincerely ready! I didn't wait for my quit date and just did it because the desire was so strong to quit! I'm on my 4th day and unbelievably I am not craving them! I feel like a nonsmoker already...kind of weird! You have friends and support here! Do what is right for you and take it one day at a time, or maybe even moment by moment. Be good to yourself! You sound very positive and that can make all the difference for you! Like someone else here said, "It's as easy as you make it."

Congrats Tawanda!!  I too, quit just 21 days ago (and can't believe it's that long).  I have no desire to smoke either.  I hate the smell of it and I'm kicking my boyfriend out of the house to smoke.  Meantime all my time is spent cleaning....gross....nicotine stains everywhere...absolutely disgusting!!  YUCK!
