I gave in I took 3 puffs of a cigarette. It didnt do anything. I guess everyone was right. I dont ever want to fall again, I am just so sad and anxious. I lost my battle. 5 days clean and I gave in. I lost my battle.
Well now that you know for sure you don't want to smoke, quit! You made 5 days, you can make 5 more, then 5 more , and before you know it you will be at 25, etc. Don't walk away from this quit and wish you hadn't!! You can do this.
You have to listen to us. We have all been through this. You have to listen. Get rid of the smokes when you are ready. Don't keep them around. Make it so you have to consider and reconsider so smoking is not such an easy option. You will thank yourself. And, forget about your five days. You need to know that you can't smoke and be a non smoker. We are with you. Hang Tough. dale
Listen to Jonescarp. Nobody can say it any better. You will get all the support you want here. Start over when you are ready. Read all the material you can.
oyu did not lose the battle unless you continue to give up on being a non smoker but we all fall but the hardest and best thing to do is to get up and start again
Giving up smoking isnt easy and you have to remember that you can stil keep trying to quit smoking. Set backs happen and you dont have beat yourself up mentally. Its ok. We are all here for ya!
You may have lost one battle, but you have not lost the war! Do not give up! 5 days is a huge accomplishment and you should be proud. So you screwed up, it happens. Just remember how you are feeling now the next time you want a cigarette. You learned an important lesson, use it to your advantage. Good luck, you can do it!!!
I too, like some of us on this site, have tried to quit numerous times and have those stumps in the road...keep on keeping on....and don't give up. I am on my 9th day and this is the millionth time I have tried to quit smoking ... but this time feels so much different..l don't think I will give up this time because I will be 55 in May and it's not good for my health and showing beginning signs...so hang in there and don't give up!:) keep in touch:)
Ive lost count how many relapses Ive had while trying to quit smoking in the past. Every time I slipped I learned something new. So my best advice would be pick up the pieces and continue being smoke free. You will only lose the battle if you give up and stop trying. Beating yourself up for 3 puffs will be counterproductive but remember this fealing the next time you get the urge to light up. You can do this if you let yourself do it.
Hi Sandra: That was a bad time for me too. I slipped on day 6 (2 puffs...and yah, they suxored). We did lose that battle, but you don't lose the WAR unless you wave the white flag! I reset my counter and started over again, and now its been almost a month, and I'm winning the war. Losing one battle.....its just one battle. Wave the white flag, and you've decided to surrender the war. Don't do that.
You lost a battle. Learn from it and go on. Everyone has given you great advice. Don't beat yourself up anymore. Time to get back in the saddle and learn new methods to deal with things. Knowledge is power, so read, read, read and read some more!
